Thanks for sharing the videos of the home place. You live a in very beautiful area that actually , (even though very different in many ways) but still reminds me of my home in the foot hills of the Appalachian mountains in the US. Farm land, rolling hills, wooded but yet grassy. Thank you also for your detailed lessons. Your explanations are clear and I like that you tell us why you are doing this or that along with your thought processes. You can be a great artist but not a good teacher. You are both. T.D.

Oooooo love this one... as always. Birds and details and pink.. what more could you ask for! Such fun to paint and lovely reference to work from. I have dozens of pelican photos and spoonbills and herons and and and... you inspire me to drag them out and not get bogged down in too many details. Just enough! 4 or 5 hours??? I died laughing... my latest painting has used up 11 hours JUST drAwing it. 18x29 so quite large, but I will count the hours just for fun. I am super slow painter...but I enjoy the journey. SO glad you ditched that builder! He did not DESERVE to be brought back. Yay Dom! It is going to be fabulous! So happy for you and please keep sharing progress. Your groupies love a peek into your life.🤣🤣🤣. Hugs from Texas. Finally nice and chilly. Ahhhh sweaters.

Hi Louise, yet another awesome of recreating natures finest. Truly I love seeing these painting coming together. I wonder, have you ever painted without a reference pic? You know, like from imagination, or memory? Please don't feel like I'm putting pressure on you, that's never my aim, I'm simple curious. Tat's how I paint most of the time. Nothing I produce is classy or clever, painting is just a release for me, I love doing it, and am always unhappy with the end result. Having said that, I never dispose of any,, because, they help with my memory. Remembering to day and it's events, my mood at the time, people that I was with on the day, the mental state, what was on my heart, all kinds of things because every image produces will carry hidden info for me alone that's invisible to onlookers. A bit like a coded diary with words. Anyway dear lady, I'm stunned again by the intricate details that give your subjects character and life. I have to ask myself at time whether you use a wand, or is that truly a brush in your hand guided by divine assistance. When the truth is right before me all along. I'm done here for now. Thank you Louise. Til the next time, it's TTFN.

@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patty. I have read that hanging them upside is a good way of drying them because the water doesn't accumulate in the ferrule. Drying horizontally is what I do most of the time. Because I use them a lot they lie on my table until the next painting session.

Dear Louise, you're my favourite teacher! The first artwork that I tried to recreate was the wonderful flamingo in orange and pink, that was a pure joy to create from start to finish. I sometimes do not understand what you mean by wetting in sections. For instance, if you have to colour in a huge base wash or layer, that wouldn't work, right? Since there would be hard lines showing as soon as the two areas touch or overlap. Maybe you're referring to just areas, where the colour won't overlap? Best of luck with your studio, hope you can finish it soon! Much love from Austria!

@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kelle. I wanted a pink with yellow undertones (a coral colour I suppose). On the first two I mixed some yellow into Permanent Rose which worked ok but it wasn't quite what I wanted. Rose Dore was the colour I was looking for without having to mix it.

Wow Louise! This is stunning 🤩 I love the limited palette, it’s really effective. How do you go about choosing your colours? Is it instinctive or do you try different things out before you start? I’d be really interested to know. Thank you for another wonderful video. Take care 😊
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sarah. That's a question that keeps popping up. It's mainly instinctive for me. There's no method to my madness so it's not something I can explain easily. Because I have been asked over and over how I choose colours I've been writing down my thoughts as they pop into my head so hopefully I can put together a video about it one day.

This is stunning Louise! what brand is the Rose Gold paint - I have never heard of it before (another one on my 'to buy' list!) I like that you don't try to individually, in greater detail, paint all the feathers - I love the subtle look. Hope to have a go on this one - not sure I am upto it yet though . . . By the way - I think (could be wrong) the pronunciation is 'O-liv-ee-ay' ie the end rhyming with tray! ... that is if he is French! The new in progress studio looks amazing - how wonderful and well deserving for you. I so admire your dedication to get your work 'just right' by doing several studies . . what patience you have. You can always throw your discarded ones my way - haha!!!
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nettie. It's called Rose Dore by Winsor & Newton. A pretty rose colour with yellow undertones. I checked the pronunciation on the internet and I tried to say Olvier and Guillard with a French accent- it came out as a garbled mess. 😝
@nettiemoss324
@nettiemoss324 3 жыл бұрын
Haha! Just think of Laurence Olivier. W&N are playing on D'Or - 'golden' and have produced a Rose Gold - how clever as it's so popular these days, esp with jewellery and watches. Of all the paints I use - I always return to W&N. I think the Guillard is pronounced 'Gee -yar' G and no real sound of the 'll' - bit difficult to describe - being so close to France we tend to hear it more: doubt you hear much French in Australia . . and it doesn't matter really does it! Your wonderful painting is what matters!
