Hi Carol! I want to tell you how much I enjoyed watching you paint your cute little snowman. The speed was so good for me, a hopeful beginner. I also enjoyed your calm, soothing voice that told me what and how things were done. I did a small watercolor scene at my library years ago. I think I am finally going to attempt more. I have subscribed. I do have a question on brushes. Are there any brand(s) you use and would reccomend? Looking at supplies, this will be my most difficult choice. I do not want cheap brushes (as a acrylic painter in the distant past, I do know that, but what about watercolor, also sizes or brush sets that are good to start with..? ) Neither do I want top of the line because of cost. Thank you so much, I will be watching for other beginning videos on your site.

Hi Jan, I'm so glad that you enjoyed painting along and I appreciate your kind words. As if now I do not subscribe to a particular brush but I do like to go to the art store to get them so that I know I'm getting a better quality brush. I would say right now what I have the most of Is Princeton Art and Brush company. they are not the top of the line but they are pretty good and they seem to hold up pretty well. You can wind up spending hundreds of dollars for just one brush and I have not tested yet whether they are really worth it or not! I tend to be a little more on the practical side with my expenses, LOL Im so glad you are getting back into art!!

Ps.. my suggestions for starters are several size rounds from 4 zero, 2, 4, 6. 8. A good half inch flat and a good mop brush that holds a lot of water. You can pretty much do anything with those

While I was dehydrating garden stuff I set my watercolor painting on the top to dry it. It worked great!

Salt is a wonderful way to add texture in watercolor. Glad you enjoyed it!
