Watercolor tutorial 🎨 Tropical design🪴

In this tutorial I will show you my step by step process for painting this piece. I’m working in a wet on dry technique, meaning I let each layer dry before applying the next to achieve a sense of depth. I use a hairdryer for drying layers (which is not shown in the video) which also helps fixing paper warping.
Art supplies:
- 100% cotton watercolor paper, cold pressed, 300 gsm. Very important to use a high quality paper for this technique since it requires several layers of wet paint.
- ‪@DANIELSMITHArtistColor‬ watercolors, using spring + sap greens for lighter tones and prussian green for the darker ones.
- ‪@winsornewton‬ gouache

I love the way you produced the background, building up the colours added depth. Drying with some heat is a good tip as it can take a while for the paint to dry and if that happens I am just as likely to have started something else 🤔. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Love from Australia.

Can I use acrylic instead of gouache.... Between the painting is gorgeous ❤️

Hmm Can’t say for sure. They are made from different substances and I don’t know how watercolor would react with acrylics. Something for me to experiment with 😊
