As a perfectionist, I can identify with you wholehearted. I recently started to do self-talk whenever I am getting to upset with myself and say "you are getting to perfect it is only paper".

Thanks, that's nice to hear. I have a much harder time with it when I'm filming, lol. But, I'm trying to get better too. You are so right, it's only paper!

I think I was destined to find your channel tonight. It’s so funny because I decided I wanted to prepare today to do some painting tomorrow. I pulled out a few of my books for inspiration. Then I chose my two favorites to work out of and they are both the same books you showed. 😄 I decided I wanted to try out two different watercolor papers to see how my paint reacts on each. I’m trying arches cold press and bee watercolor paper - also cold press. Then I got my light out and traced the patterns from the book. I chose the fox and the picture on the front of the book. I will be using Daniel Smith and Schmincke paints. As I watched your video I just had to smile at all the similarities! I guess great minds think alike. 😂 The one thing I did wish I’d done from your suggestions is to trace my subjects with watercolor pencils. I always forget to do that and use a pencil and then erase most of it with my kneaders eraser. Your paintings turned out great! Thank you.

Thanks so much!! I'm so happy you enjoyed, and it's great to know others who enjoy the same things! Aches and Bee paper are my most used watercolor paper, as well. ;) I often test them like that too, and I seem to get different results using different brands/mediums. Schmincke and Daniel Smith are my top two watercolors, so great minds think a like, for sure!! Thanks so much for your kind words!

Isn't it awesome! Yes, I'm doing the same. I really love it, now I can just play with paint instead of worrying about what to draw first, etc. You are so welcome! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

I want to use water color in my coloring books…..a little different from what you are doing but….I find it very interesting. Your voice is calming and when we are somewhat stressed wanting to do so well….a calming voice is a big plus. Love what you did with the fox….I am bot very accomplished yet but…..trying. I too am a bit of a perfectionist and hard on myself…..If the page does not turn out as expected….it often head to the trash HA! As for the sarcasm….I too am like that so I feel very comfortable with you. You have a new subscriber.

Thank you so much, Mickey! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the video and I hope it inspired you to keep at it! Don't trash it if it's on good paper, you can reuse that later. So nice to have you here, I hope I have time to make more videos like this soon. ;)

Thanks for this video! I struggle with a lot of the same things that you do and its frustrating because art is supposed to be relaxing and once I figure out my colors etc. Etc. It is but thwn I stuggle with perfectionism then Im stuck then get discouraged. I need to just keep going and be happy with what I make and learn from it. I think books and coloring books where they provide sketches and aome directions help me so much to just begin without little to no thoughts then ita much more relaxing. I have recently picked up this watercolor coloring book and I havent started yet bc of my same ol reasons. I need to just get it started! Thanks for this video.

Stephanie, Your fox was Beautiful. You are good with Color. I have seen your Growth and it is wonderful. I love Arteza Watercolors. I have the Woodless Watercolors and they are fabulous. I will be purchasing the regular pencils soon., Thank You so much for a well done video. Steph, If I can take liberty to give you one word of advice, Make 2019 the year you become less critical of yourself and learn to love yourself. You are a beautiful, Young Woman and bring joy to so many. You are Enough, Steph.

Kathryn Sloan Thanks, Kathryn! I’m really loving all of the art supplies, it keeps me from getting bored. I’m glad you are enjoying the Arteza watercolors! Good to know, Arteza contacts me frequently to send more items and I’ve been at a loss as to more products I would actually use. I enjoyed the watercolor pencils more than I thought I would! I will also be doing a comparison between Prismacolor colored pencils and Arteza colored pencils. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! You are so sweet, I meant I am hard on myself creatively with my drawing and cardmaking etc. I hope you are enjoying the holidays with your family! Hugs

I just watched this video on Sept 01st 2020. Thank you sooo much for creating it and posting it. I actually have these watercolor pencils. Purchased them from Arteza a few months ago. I so wish to create watercolor art. Cannot seem to even remotely create something I like. Anyway I had my eye on this book and went ahead and bought it. Cannot wait to try it out “yet again “ lol

Hi Robin! You are so welcome. I still love this book, and I hope you enjoy it as well. I highly recommend tracing a few pages to practice on. For me, having a sheet to practice on makes it easier to enjoy creating rather than worrying I will mess it up. I think we are all hard on ourselves. I'm sure your artwork is beautiful, but I understand how you feel. Lol Just try to create for fun! Thanks for watching and commenting. :)

Hi Stephanie l would love for you to do one of Dana's pics from her book in Real Time as l'm very new to Watercolor and l'm struggling alot Cheers Kerry and G'Day from Australia 😊☺️
@TheGypsyChic12 жыл бұрын
Hi Kerry! That's a great idea for an upcoming video! Since you are from Australia, here is my biggest tip for you. Some brands of watercolors are much more expensive for you. When I was new to watercolors, I worried way too much about which brand was the besy. Don't feel you need to use the brands being showed in anyone's videos. All brands are very similar, and you can use almost any brand to create beautiful artwork! I will try to mention this in a future video. ;)
@kerryhall56212 жыл бұрын
Mmmmmm Thank You but l've spent alot of money on Watercolour Products l have Winsor Newton Cotman 45 pan l have Daniel Smith 51 pans Altenew 24 pans Paul Reubens 48 pans Phoenix 48 pans Mungyo 48 pans Kuretake Gansai Tambi 48 pans and l've just ordered another one but l can't think of the name plus Brushes and Watercolour paper as it's something l really want to learn but my struggle is water to paint ratio and being perfect which is something l need to let go of Cheers Kerry 😘
@kerryhall56212 жыл бұрын
Hey l've just brought Smincke and it was the most expensive over here x
@TheGypsyChic12 жыл бұрын
Haha, you will fit right in here then. ;D I love trying all the brands, and all of the colors too. I just never want anyone to feel they have to buy all of the things. ;) Water to paint ratio is just about practice and then letting go and having fun, as you have figured out.
@TheGypsyChic12 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes I'm sure it was expensive! I hope you love your Schmicnke paints, as much as I do! ;)

@@TheGypsyChic1 Well it showen in your video you colouring a tracing, and using watercolour pencils. Looks good! I was hoping this book would give a bit of courage as well as a bit of knowledge. I am assuming you are following the instructions in the book. I also have a 12 tin of Inktense never used and from what I know they are applied in the same manner.

@TheGypsyChic15 жыл бұрын
Tasheena Brown It is pretty good, but I like the Canson Montval watercolor notebook better. But, you get twice the paper for the same price with the Arteza. So I will keep using both 🤗

Great video presentation and artwork! I am very much how you describe yourself, you are not alone. I'm often frozen by perfectionism and very hard on myself and it stops me from starting a lot of things, esp. art related. I hate wasted effort but I'm learning from other artists to try and have a better attitude, and that failures/mistakes are all teaching points I can learn from. Really hard to do, especially when you have other struggles in your life, a messed up piece can add to your irritation bc you just want something to work out ok.
@TheGypsyChic15 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Irene! Thank you, that's nice to hear. Yes, I haven't painted another piece since a fox a painted over a year ago...for the same reason. I play in my sketch books, and hope to have enough time to paint the perfect piece later. Lol Thanks so much for your sweet comment, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
