Hello Everybody,
I'm making these swatch cards mainly for myself, but I hope they may come in handy for you, too. Please leave a comment if you do find them useful!
I've swatched PR101 Burnt Sienna from Rosa Gallery, Winsor & Newton Professional, Michael Harding, Shinhan PWC and Winsor & Newton Cotman, as well as Van Gogh which is a mix of PR101 and PBk11 (it's an older version, I think they are now using a single pigment version), and PBr7 Burnt Sienna from Roman Szmal and Daniel Smith.
I've used the Clairefontaine Goldmine Studio Pad to swatch on: store.evansart... (or www.clairefont....

I'm sorry everybody, the photo will be delayed until tomorrow. I was out while the light was good enough for a decent picture. Wish me luck for tomorrow!

Good luck! And thank you - it's always interesting to see how different brands approach the same pigments and paints!

Okay, I'll have to figure out how best to film the palette. But I'll find a way. Thanks Dee!

Not to be a Sienna enabler or anything and Idk how available/afforable it is where you are but M.Graham has a Burnt Sienna that's very nice and has a fairly unique combination of traits and wide value range. I've also been really surprised how much more I like some of the mixes from Transparent Red Oxide than Burnt Sienna, given that BS has always been a favorite. I think it was a Dr. Oto Kano swatch video that sold me on it, from the M. Graham playlist. Thank you for sharing these. 😊

You are very welcome! Thank you for the recommendation. M.Graham isn't exactly affordable, but I'd sure love to try them at some point. I think some Burnt Siennas are more opaque than others, so the more opaque one is, the less cleanly it mixes. That might explain why you prefer the Transparent Red Oxide. I'm sure I watched that video, but I don't remember it, so might have to rewatch. Thanks for mentioning it ☺

I do not like W+Newton's Burnt Sienna. It's very hard to re-wet, for me at least. I have a 1/2 pan of it collecting dust lol. I LOVE Rosa Gallery's PR101, they also have a beautiful Caput Mortuum PR 101 too... it's like velvet lol. My current favorite Burnt Sienna is Van Gogh's PR101 and Rosa's!

Oh yes, I love their Caput Mortuum, too! And I don't know why I forgot to mention that I always put a drop of water into the W&N Burnt Sienna when I want to use it, otherwise it is indeed no fun to paint with. But honestly, when I run out, I'll refill the pan with Rosa. Nicer paint and it's quite a bit cheaper.
