Waterfall Swallet near Foolow ¦ Derbyshire Hidden Waterfall

Join me in this short video for a trip to Waterfall Swallet, just between the Derbyshire villages of Foolow and Eyam. It is a beautiful hidden waterfall which only springs to life in wetter weather. It is easily reached via s short road walk of around 1km from Foolow.

It was a lovely hidden spot, and I only found it by chance after chatting to that local couple I met! The word "swallet" really does fit in with the local dialect, but whether I'm right or not about its meaning, who knows 😁 All the best!👍👍

I love a waterfall and as this is an area I do not know a new waterfall for me too, well, I suppose it was secret but yes it was beautiful too! Shows how much rain we have had over the summer giving it was flowing so well, well doe to the two lads in the pub! Cheers Alan

Hi Alan. We're a bit short on impressive waterfalls in the Peak District really. I guess it's just the nature of the geography/geology. So it was great to find this one, even though it only works part time and shows what a lousy summer we've had👍😂

Beautiful little spot isn't it? No idea how I'd never heard of it before, as we've visited the area many times. A nice treat to get directions to it from the couple I met in the pub. Cheers for watching👍

An absolutely stunning waterfall Des. One I'm definitely going to have to visit. I wouldn't like to get too close to that sink hole, that would be lights out for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris. Well worth a little detour if you're in the area. Hard to work into a route really, as it's just off a road, but only 1km or so outside Foolow. It was hard to see exactly where the water actually disappeared as it was pretty muddy. Wouldn't want to stray too close though! 😁 Cheers for watching. Much appreciated👍☺

@DesGreene looping it in to a visit at the Trig up at Abney. 6.66 miles loop adding this in as a feature on the way back. Hopefully, within next week or two. I want it to rain a bit more first.

It's a funny one Simon. It's easy to get to, but not on a footpath, so you're unlikely to pass it by chance. Well worth a little detour to though! Quite an impressive place! All the best and cheers for watching 👍🙂

Hi Keir. Just had a look at W3W and I think trickled foggy prompts is more or less the spot. Not much in the way of parking there though. Hope that helps👍
