Waterford Bikers Club, Ireland 1991

The Waterford Freewheelers host an annual bikers festival each June bank holiday weekend in the village of Kilmeaden, Waterford.
Now in its fifth year, the festival attracts thousands of bikers from all over the world. ‘Changing Places: Hog in the Limelight’ profiles the event and the visiting bikers. Local people talk about the impact that the festival has on them and their locality.
In this clip from the documentary we meet some of the bikers who have travelled from near and far to the Waterford village. We also meet “the only punk in Waterford”.
It’s all about bikes and what some consider the greatest bike of all - the Harley Davidson - known to real enthusiasts as a hog.
Waterford Freewheelers MC John ‘Blue’ O’Shea talks about the history of motorbikes and the Harley, the patches the bikers wear and the origins of the Hells Angels.

I remember going out to that around 1989 when I was in college in Waterford. Absolute madhouse. And them two lads were far from the only two punks in Waterford.

I was there for the Lisdoonvarna Massacreee, 😉...A chapter not written in their history..1983 The bikers decided they'll do security for cans of Harp , big contingent from North had different ideas.. Tails, Legs, Running, Pleading.......#blue...😉....

Love his wash and blow dry for the "big" interview. The "I'm 55 and I'm in a gang" brigade. Obviously missed out on the girl guides/boy scouts era or weren't allowed join as it was outdoor activity. There was many a town suffered at the hands of these "biker clubs" and their "lackies" sitting outside pubs minding their gloves and helmets. Overgrown bullies.
