I watch several other people, prior nomad influencers, who have now purchased land in the AZ high desert. None of them understand the wisdom in capturing water in season, like you do. They all depend solely on water delivery, not considering the day when that option may not be available. They should all watch you!

When I came out here it really was a dire situation. I've always worked towards self sufficiency as if my homestead was the only thing that existed. In case one day it really is all I have to depend on. I don't think most do the same.

If it gets too hot you could purchase or make a Swamp Cooler (evaporative cooler). I know a Commercial Greenhouse that uses it to cool the water and air. I used a small 3' swamp cooler in my aquaponics in my greenhouse to reduce the water temps in the summer. it will quickly drop 500 gallons of water by 10 degrees F in a day.

water in the aquaponics system should keep the temperature stable, better, in the greenhouse. It acts as a thermal battery so to speak. It will keep it cooler when it gets hot, and warmer when it gets cold in the greenhouse.

0:08 Awesome content! 😊 What are your future plans for next-level water irrigation & is there a rainwater catchment system in your sights for your home-build?

If it get extremely hot, couldn't you put ice cubes in the aquapontic system?
@robbiewillford4601 Жыл бұрын
Maybe some large gallon platic bottles of water. Freeze them, put them in the fish tank as needed. Just refreeze after they have melted from being in the water.

Do the catfish need clay and dirt to make holes and some type of structure. Heard cinderblocks are OK to start off with how deep is the pond?

Silly question. If your pump is 1600gpm, and you have a small diameter hose, as you seem to, thats really not 1600 gpm, right? How many gpm is it effectively?

Here’s a hint for you, you are watering far too quickly. In arid climates you need to use deep watering not surface watering, so slow deep watering with a lot of mulch to retain the moisture. You should also always water off a night, never of a day time when evaporation is at its maximum. Just looking at your plants on your channel they are all suffering from water deprivation by the look of them, bit hard to tell from this side of the planet but by the look of it they are. Perhaps you should consider reducing the amount you grow and increasing the amount of water each plant receives, you will increase your yield to compensate for the loss of number of plants.

All good points for him. Additionally looking at drip irrigation would help. Look how the Israelis turned desert into growing tons of food in previously unusable land.
