6:03 Those are called Traction bars!! They preload torque to the leaf springs tightening everything up and ultimately they improve traction as the name suggests. Makes no sense on that car though hahaha.
@BenShapirosLowerLip3 сағат бұрын
Maybe in the past a previous owner was starting a drag build with this car and gave up?
@jwalster94122 сағат бұрын
Maybe someone installed them to hide something broken, might be good for hiding blown shocks.
@skrrtskrrt64617 минут бұрын
They don't preload the springs, they stop the axle from rotating. When launching hard (most likely harder than a stock pinto is capable of, unless you neutral drop it from 7000 rpm) the axle may rotate causing the springs to distort (become s shaped essentially.) when this happens the traction bars hit the spring, stopping the axle rotating further.
@ronniek611411 сағат бұрын
Install autojacks on the pinto, with as much wheel changing and breaking it goes through, it seems like a logical time saver.

Hahaha yeah you’re probably right

When you want to try and fit only a part of big print, like bolt pattern of a wheel, you can just cut out that specific part in your Prusa Slicer using Cut command (shortcut: C). Just do a couple of cuts and print only a part of your whole design. No plastic wasted. Also no time wasted either
@cy9nvs13 сағат бұрын
Wow, I didn't even know you can print something like that in one piece with two materials, amazing.

Pinto had traction bars, supposed to help eliminate wheel hop on leaf spring suspension. You know so your pinto can really run out it's 0-exploded real fast. You need to be cutting in the movie Top Secret, there is a good pinto scene.

@Advil1024Сағат бұрын
If you decide to revisit this one day, maybe you could cut some steel plates with bolt holes that get embedded in the wheels for more strength. Or maybe make a larger wheel by waterjet cutting the wheel portion from steel and then 3D print the tire portion out of PETG or Nylon where it bolts to the steel plate, then TPU for the tire. Cut the tire model into four pieces that fit together when they're bolted onto the wheel and each quarter of a tire still fits on your build plate. Put your current model online and we'll do it for you!
