Waterloo Pub Tour • North Lambeth • Southwark • Ales and chat

There are many lovely pubs in the Waterloo, North Lambeth and Southwark areas and today Neil and I explore a small but carefully chosen selection. We can’t visit all of them in the area. A pint in each was the plan.
Our tour included:
• Marie’s Café for a late breakfast
• Crown and Cushion, Westminster Bridge Road
• The Windmill, The Cut
• The Kings Arms, Roupell Street
• The White Hart, Cornwall Road
• The Rockingham Arms, Elephant and Castle
• The Ship, Borough Road
• Marie’s Café for a late supper
• The Kings Arms, Roupell Street (second visit)
If you can suggest another area for Neil and I to explore, with some suggested pubs that have dark ales/bitters on tap, please do let me know.

A great day imbibing with me ol’ mucker Wozza! There are a number of more obvious places in London to do pub crawls but around this area is to be recommended and I’m proud to have discovered these pubs as well as show off an area often not considered when such tours/crawls are being organised! Last time we did this area was about 6 months ago and my favourite pub that day was our first one, “The King’s Arms” (it still is around there!) whilst Warren’s was “The windmill”. We agree that the latter is a great pub and always worthy of a visit but thankfully he has seen the light and now agrees that the arms up the road is just a pub full of character and ales that no video or talk does it justice - you simply have to sample the place for yourselves and if you do you will never be disappointed! One of London’s genuinely true hidden gems and this comment is not being made lightly! Anyway, although there are many lovely places to get a breakfast I don’t know any like Maria’s which also specialise in Thai food and after 5pm only Thai - probably a family-run business with a commuted, loyal and multi-cultural clientele, so just like these pubs you really have to go there to experience Maria to the full - we WILL return! Other pubs which don’t feature in this tour (but still to be recommended) are The Wellington and the Hole in the Wall - both big pubs on rugby days but full of atmosphere and decent ales! Our next tour will probably be a return to our first hunting ground of Camden - watch this space and remember, if the ale looks like a lager, smells like a lager, tastes like a lager, then it IS a lager - AVOID AT ALL COSTS - this is the flying Scotsman signing off in style - may the force of dark ale be with you forever!!! 🍺👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Right on there me-old-mate! Campden next, and so a list of places to visit needs to be shortlisted. But where to first? And which to enjoy last? It will be so difficult to decide. But the World's End must be there somewhere, surely! And can we squeak in a cheeky cocktail or two along the way - it would be rude not to! Until the next time, Cheers, Warren :)

Sounds a lot but they are all spaced out and we walk in between as well. We are planning a tour around Camden in the springtime when we can. We know many nice pubs there. Cheers, Warren :)

Nice session Warren, my personal best is 13 pints of Murphy's stout in Cork about 10 years ago. Seafood breakfast and Chinese meal at the end, I still remember the hangover! Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🎄
