Alexandra Garrick Sam's dad was put in prison for a criminal offence he committed in Blackpool, if I remember correctly. In series 7, Sam had a brain tumour which was terminal and so she didn't have long left to live. She wanted to visit her dad for the last time before she died as she wanted him to know about the tumour, so Finn and Lauren travelled to Blackpool with her to find him, only for Sam's grandmother who lives in Blackpool to tell Sam that her dad had been moved to a prison in Scotland.
