Water mill also known as panchakki ( पनचक्की) , घट्ट , घराट ( in local uttarakhand dialect).
This small 5 minute documentary based on typical watermill of Himalayan state Uttarakhand.
Watermills are the perfect example of Humen - Environment relationship as no power is consumed no fossil fuel is burned. This flour mill runs on water tapped from the river flowing beside of it, hence no electricity or not any type of fuel is required.
You will see all small details of this watermill , from construction to operation point of view.
it is very informative for kids and student. It will also help the to create working model of same.
WORKING OF WATERMILL------------------------------------------
A stream of water is tapped from the river with the help of small check dam and fed into a long canal of 1 -2 km of length, then this water is poured itno the turbine of watemill which starts rotation due to this striking of water into blades of turbine.
As the tubine is connected with the upper grinding wheel with the help of shaft , this upper grinding wheel also starts rotation along with the turbines.
Due to this wheat grinding process starts. All type of grains like Wheat, Barley, Raagi, Maize etc can be grind in this watermill.
Though these type of watermills are very less in numbers but still few of working Watermill are there, This documentary is shoot in Gahli Village of PauriGarhwal , Uttarkhand.
