I don't know the answer to this question, I have to be honest. I've never been asked this before. I guess there is technically nothing stopping you putting salted water in the reservoir but it could potentially have an impact on the internal mechanisms if used regularly. It might be ok if then rinsed out/cleaned out thoroughly afterwards. But I have to be honest I don't know.
