I like how you use the term “manage”, as apposed to stop. Once water gets through concrete you are foolish to think you can stop it from the inside and you definitely need to manage it from the inside. It makes a lot of sense. Stay safe everyone.

In cold weather any water trapped in the concrete will evaporates quickly because cold weather brings dry weather for months.

If you want to paint them. Paint them. Don't do it until you take care of any moisture, humidity or water on the floor problems.

I have an old home in Southeastern Michigan with a cinder block foundation. The outside of the home has a thick dark gray parge. On the interior of the basement wall there is a plaster parge. Is this older method good for managing the water? We have a high water table and the house sits on clay. We had a local waterproofing company install a system identical to your French drain about 6yrs ago, however I don’t recall them applying the crystalline material that you use.

What he said is absolutely true. But the best way to manage water is on the outside before it comes it. Before paying for an interior drain, an exterior drain down to the footer, waterproofed block, and drainage board will significantly reduce any amount of water entering the block. That in conjunction with a french drain is the most fool proof way to have a dry basement. Also agree about the drylock, it's no good for your cinderblock and will deteriorate it much quicker.
