Waterproofing Xiaomi M365: Single Most Important Thing To Do

It’s 100% true...I have 365pro older version, been using it for nearly 2 years, I can tell you from my own experience that, I have been using it in heavy and I mean damn heavy rains, I don’t, I repeat I don’t go around puddles, I don’t care what cruel weather conditions I am facing, I literally just don’t care... I bought this scooter for fun and to destroy it and to test what it can withstand...guys ...if the control panel is being protected then you won’t have a single problem... my scooter had been trained in the most cruel and against the most cruel weather conditions, hot, cold, rain, snow, heavy rain, puddles, off-road, what I did to this scooter you might have never done it to yours...I trust this scooter all the way, one thing to bear in mind...do not leave this scooter in direct heat such ad 40 celcius or above cos you’ll have a flashing sign that your battery is overheated and won’t charge, once It’s cooled down it will charge again...in nutshell...this scooter can withstand anything... Not really stem lock breaks all the time bad quality but its ridicilously durable like after 4000km i have driven trough mudpits and taken it to a mtb downhill track🤣 it takes it its a piece of shit but its durable

Good idea to cover the controller with sticker. Another alternative is using phone screen protector and just cut the protector to cover all of that including the top. But covering only the controller doesn’t make your escooter waterproof. You have to also waterproof the battery board, the wheels in front where there is electric circuit too and the electric board of the break at the back where water and mud would also accumulate.

i would not bother with this kind of scoote i rode mine trough hell and back including floods, mudpits yeah still works fine

I purchased the M365 PRO model today. There was heavy rain during test driving, but there was no problem at all, and I even cleaned it with water when I got home. One concern is that the battery charger protective cap is a magnet, but it looks a little weak, so I'm worried, but... I'm sure Xiaomi made it on her own!

I got the Xiaomi S1 and i was riding it today in super light rain, and then later I was riding on wet surfaces. Should my scooter be good? I see no problems, can you ride them on wet surfaces? How would I know if a problem occurs? Thank you b

M365 Pro dashboard is already waterproof, I don't think you need to waterproof it

Thanks for this! What about the horizontal line break, further up on the dashboard, over the handlebars - doesn't that let in water too?

That horizontal line break has no effect. It's just a spacer between the two plastic covers making up the dashboard. As long as the larger plastic plate is securely attached (with the original adhesive) it should be fine in regular rain.

@@samp6162 Good call. I should be clear - Pro and Pro 2 have a power switch on the dashboard that has been redesigned and apparently waterproof. The entire e-scooter is not waterproof.

To the best of my knowledge the Pro2 dashboard is already water resistant. So you don't have to do it.

You may want to try a stationery shop. They should have envelope stickers, just make sure that they're labeled as waterproof.

This goes to show that at least at this stage, electric scooters are more trouble than they're worth. If you have to pay a fair bit of money, and then need to scour the Internet for gimmicks on how to adapt this scooter to do something trivial like riding in the rain, this isn't something a sensible person would buy to commute to work or to regard seriously as means of transportation. Which leaves kids and non-kids, who'd want a fair-weather flat-pavement toy, which is fair enough.

Not quite so simple. If this scooter is your transportation, you can’t just not ride in the rain, especially if you live someplace rainy and need to get to work. If, on the other hand, this is just a toy, then fine, but in this case we shouldn’t pretend that this is reliable transportation options.

@@gnostie in that case the best option for those wanting reliability in the rain, would be to purchase an e scooter that has an IP of 65 plus where the warranty covers water ingress, Pure Air Pro has this, but there are probably better options out there, i believe there are other ways to water proof the Xiaomi tho, I’ve seen some have siliconed from the inside of the scooter any open seals like where the wiring comes out of the frame work to make sure it’s properly sealed etc

@@gnostie hence why scooters aren't the only option for transportation. I dont know anyone who rides bikes but doesn't drive a car. I got a bike and if its raining I would much rather go in a Car to get from A to B. Doesn't mean its not reliable or not viable

@gnostie you may get that idea from watching all the suggestions that people post, myself included. However, rest assured that riding an e-scooter in the rain once in a while (not through a car wash) is highly unlikely to damage it. These are just extra precautions for those interested in extra protection. For me personally, buying an e-scooter has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. Have a good one!

No, I never said that. I said that this is the most important thing you want to do to protect your M365 against water damage. I'm currently at 2,600 km and have no issues as far as water damage is concerned. There are plenty of other things you can do to decrease the chance of water damage, some of them, such as dumping silicon around the electric motor are over the top. Have a good one!

The switch on the M365 Pro is water-resistant. You don't need this in my opinion :)

You may want to consider waterproofing it, especially if you happen to be riding in the rain often. Just so you know, I've ridden my M365 in pouring rain numerous times in the past without waterproofing anything and it still rides. Any custom modifications are for prevention.

Try stationery stores (paper supplies, envelopes), they usually have waterproof stickers that go on plastic envelopes and such. Waterproof is the key.
