It’s really sad to see this series receive so much hate. It has so many redeeming qualities, yet people can’t seem to get over the animation (which, may I add, isn’t that bad-). I honestly think this is a wonderful adaptation of Richard Adams’ novel, and it certainly deserves more love.
@SheWolf_Warrior
@SheWolf_Warrior 3 жыл бұрын
I agree. It’s a masterpiece. People are even somehow scared of it. It isn’t that scary! People have to give it a chance. I believe that the reason why it’s getting hated is because people are treating it as a remake when it’s not a remake. Remakes are rarely appreciated, so obviously if people send so many lies about this being a remake, then people will hate it because it “ruined the original.” BBC even said that they are not remaking the movie, they are adapting it from the book! People are assuming too much just because it is called Watership Down like the 1978 movie. So sad.

So my mom found this on Netflix and started watching in because she seen the book a long time ago. I AT FIRST thought it was gonna be stupid or childish, ya know the typical teen thinking process when you see a bunch of bunnys on screen. I looked at it before and thought about watching it because I had second thoughts but always was like "naaaaah".....WELL since I was curious I watched it with my mom and oh my goodness MY HEART felt this movie, the animation (in my opinion) is great, voice acting is on point and it's like it's REAL (though If you think about it some of it is such as the things they go through like humans destroying their homes, being chased by foxes and such, you get the drift)

Just watched it. The story is excellent and they had superb voice acting. Only downside for me was that it is so difficult to distinguish the rabbits from each other. I know this is a long time from here but i watched this twice. Like the whole series on netflix. The first time i couldnt distinguish the rabbits. But after watching it the second time, i was able to distinguish them more. Dandelion is a yellower rabbit with yellow eyes. Fiver (or Hrairoo as he is sometimes addressed) is the smallest. Bigwig (or Thlayli) is white and has a 'small mohawk'. Bluebell is blue with blue eyes. Blackberry is like a dark greyish colour with chesnutty eyes. Hawkbit is a darker shade -i think- with grey eyes? Ive forgotten him. Strawberry is well, a strawberry colour. Clover is dark brown and light brown. Captain holly dies but he has brown amber eyes. Hyzenthlay is like a golden colour with golden eyes. And thats all i can remeber. Keep in mind im.doing this all from memory so it may not be 100% accurate. Also i have no description for hazel except hazel fur i guess? Try watching jt again because that def helped me.

Seeing a lot of negativity here, but I'm actually really excited! -The original movie is great, but for example the sound quality is quite terrible which is understandable because of the time it was made, but a new version will be welcome nevertheless, the voice acting sounds great! -This movie doesn't have to replace the original one. You can still watch that if you really don't like this :^) -need more cases to show people that animation is not 100% of the time for kids -A lot of people are saying that the animation looks terrible, but honestly it's just very realistic; in most animation rabbit movement and features would be exaggerated and while I *love* that, I think for a film like this a more realistic approach will do great.

Love it when Blackberry is like “Good heavens! I mean, good gracious! I mean...” XD I thought this show was excellent, I really enjoyed the rabbit religious/cultural aspects (ie Frith, the Black Rabbit, etc.), and I did think the ending was quite moving, though this was my first exposure to the franchise. I don’t really see why the animation/CGI work is getting so much negative criticism. Overall I think it was a job well done

What's this new obsession with remaking classic cartoons with computer animation? The originals are classics because they are cartoons which easily convey human emotion. The rabbits can cry, smile, show happiness and fear. I can relate to them and empathise with their plight. How can I empathise with a CGI creation of a lifelike rabbit?? The whole reason the originals were successful is because of the cartoon; it worked and fulfilled the movies message. It isn't a movie about rabbits, it's a survival film with themes of camaraderie and friendship, the underrabbit coming out on top. The cartoon rabbits are just the vessel the movie is set in, but it works. This is just a CGI movie about emotionless lifelike rabbits that lacks all the charm and message of the original. I suspect these remakes are just easy, and don't require any original creative thought.

Peter Rabbit was 50 mil USD or 40 mil GBP so twice the budget, it was also live action mixed with animation meaning that entire environments didn't need to be animated. If humans spoil the earth wherever we go, then why can we still live anywhere? We've been here for millenia, and the earth isn't dead yet, and it's not going to die because of us. Well, okay. It's not going to die because of industrialization. But it might die due to the anti carbon idiocy happening right now. There's a point around carbon dioxide being at 63 parts per million (if I remember correctly) where ALL PLANTS START TO DIE, and the more Co2 in the air, the healthier plants are. Also, the United States withdrew from the Paris Climate Accords, and the United States is the ONLY country in the world that surpassed the goals of the Paris Climate Accords... while not obeying the hyper restrictive controls of that accord. Oh, and that doesn't even cover the oft ignored scandals of manipulated data from NASA, NOAA, GIS, and more.

Looking at the voice cast on Wikipedia, if it is not a name then it is someone you would definitely recognise from somewhere else if you saw their face. The actors billed in the trailer would have been enough with plenty of budget to spare but they ended up with £100 to spend on the animation.

Am I the only one who can tolerate the animation? Well, actually, now that I look more closely, it does look pretty bad. Even so, I may still watch this. That said, if they couldn't do fully realistic, they should have stylized it just a little.

It is animation. That's what it is. I don't want it to look like a nature documentary or flat like a cartoon. It looks good, I'm getting emotional already just watching the trailer. Anyone see the analogy with immigration?

Watership Down is definitely need a remake, but not like this. I like the animated version but I was expecting a Live Action/CGI remake/treatment of it. Good casting though but the animation looks horribly unsatisfying, it's like they're endorsing a cheap indie game! 😒
@meiray
@meiray 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed on the animation quality. Not a lot of point in doing a live/action CGI hybrid though. The cast of characters is almost entirely rabbits, there's little to gain in even shooting background plates. A movie like Paddington, Peter Rabbit, Life of Pi or The Jungle Book is where the that technique makes sense.

@@meiray I really love the 2D Animation of Watership Down. I was expecting a remake like photorealistic like Disney doing for The Lion King or a decent 3D Animation. When i hear that "Watership Down" is going to be a 3D Animation i got hyped and excited. When i saw this trailer i got disappointed. I'll try to watch this version if it's good.

why does it need a Remake ? The animated film was and is great. When you are remaking a film, take a bad one, that has a good premise and try to make it better.
