Thank you for this video. I just started using WavePad and this is a good tutorial on prepping VO files. One thing I noticed is that your noise gate started shutting down early on the word "reptile" at the end of the sentence. While I know ACX approved your file, to me the gate was a bit aggressive. Perhaps that part would benefit from separate processing.

I'm working with a recording consisting of several different voice files. Is there a simple way to balance the audio so that all of the clips sound roughly the same volume?

Are the voices on separate files? Keep a copy of the original files somewhere safe. Make copies of the originals before doing any editing. Give the copies a different unique name to avoid confusion. Only edit the copies until you get it where you want it. Normalize each audio file using average loudness normalization. After that you may want to amplify (70%) to reduce the gain. See if that handles the volume issue for you.

I actually use both. Audacity does a better job of slowing or speeding up the tempo of the audio file.

That is currently not possible with WavePad.

Yes, WavePad does offer this feature. It works better with some songs than others. On the effects tab there is a Voice section. Reduce vocals is one of the options. I may make a video about this feature.

How to adjust the bit level?

Select Tools, Options, In the General tab look under Prompt for File Format Settings. For Save and Save As select prompt always. Whether you save it as wave or mp3 you will be able to select the bit rate prior to saving the file.
