I already own a lot of waves plugins, and I just stumbled on this one. There's no way I'm not getting this amazing deal. It feels like a crime to take the color and character of these consoles and have it in the box. These plugins here are greatness. With the right tools, the right mindset, and the right applications, waves could take you to another level you never even imagined. All of this done in the box. My dream has come true guys. Thank you Waves.

'Mike' is my fav setting for its harmonic distortion!! There is that goddamn floor bass which isn't muddy but signature! Hard to achieve with an EQ.

@@JoshNecto21 I'm not a pro in mixing but I'm a huge fan of NLS. Especially the EMI TG (mike) ! It may give a beefy sound if added too much, but at a moderate setting, it "shines the mixbus" like you told 👍🙂 ❤❤
That SSL 4000 G mixing console is a beauty. Love the warmth I get when using the 'Spike' option on this plugin. Been using this plugin for a while and it's definitely a 'must have' for for warmer, colored sounding vocals.

Waves SSL G bus compressor and NLS bus spike on the master bus, SSL 4000 G channel strip on the channels with NLS channel at the end of the chain on each channel.... Sounds like a pretty convincing SSL 4000 G console in the box.

Wow, I tried the demo version of NLS now on a simple 8 track mix and it sounds warmer and fuller with the plugin activated on all the channels with different number for each channel. I will test it a bit more but I will probably buy this plugin.

Any piece of equipment an audio signal passes through will impart its own character. The more processing you do on the desk (EQ, compression, gain changes etc.) the more the desk will give the audio signal its own character. It's not as obvious as say the difference between two different guitar pedals, but every desk has its own unique sound. Its mainly subtle very musical distortion the each desk adds in its own unique way! Try a few different desks and see for yourself!

@Hugh Jones Sure, but this isn't a summer that emulates other summers. It does no summing at all despite being marketed as a summer.

May i ask a tech info to all of you guys may help me? Nls is maybe the best waves plug in i ever purchased in my life. There is just one thing i don't get. When i put in the "Mike" mode i can here a slight difference in the soundfield of the sound. i can clearly hear that the audio content always slides a little bit on the sides and only in the "mike" mode. (this problem obviously can be solve by switching the "dual mono" button to Stereo mode) But then, by doing this i suddenly hear less "space" feeling obviously. I'm just wondering why this happends. Because i would like the feeling of a deeper stereo field , but i don't want it "de-centered" . Especially if we are talking about Drums&Bass group track (like a michael brauer sort of instroument group track) Thanks in advance for your help. :)

During the EMI demonstration is the background music actually coming from in the box with the NLS plugin engaged???????
@HalSamuel11 жыл бұрын
Waves: did you actually model the consoles, taking apart the channels and building your algorithms modelled on each component in the chain, or did you simply analyse the end result of waveforms sent through the desk's channels and apply that as an audio 'process'. The latter method is like taking a snapshot. Accurate, but it can't give you an accurate picture of what the desks will sound like under varied conditions, and for me that's the life of an analogue console. Thanks for your time.

I love this plugin...the character and depth it adds is great...but pleeeeaaase guys....can you fix the ssl? it distorts in a really unpleasant way and is almost unusable which sucks because the 4000g is my favorite large format console of all time...I'm not the only one who believes this is an issue either...its a pretty well accepted conclusion on the gearslutz forum as well
@DaMonstaMuzik9 жыл бұрын
+manifestgtr did they ever fix those issues, was it the channels or summing buss? Which models do you like and for what?
@manifestgtr9 жыл бұрын
to the best of my knowledge, no...they haven't fixed it...I've since moved on to using the slate vcc 2 since their ssl is so prestine and deep sounding...however as far as the nls goes, the nevo always sounded great to my ears on guitars, vocals, bass and the old mike console from abbey road sounded brilliant on anything that you were looking to get just a bit of old school grit on top of...I had a drum mix going through that one time that was sooooo nice and the nls was definitely a contributing factor...it's not a "wow this is night and day!" situation with plugins like this...it's more of a "wow, I've been mixing through this and now that I've bypassed it, my depth is NOT where it was" kind of thing...if I didn't have vcc 2, id still use nls...it's a great bit of software regardless

You know this isn’t the real console right? It’s an emulation of the character of the consoles. For $29 when on sale you get 3 different consoles. Bit of a bargain less than $10 Each during sales. Controls are limited but it’s actually pretty good at adding warmth and character to individual tracks and as part of a bus chain. Isn’t even CPU heavy to use. No idea why people slag Waves off. Oh it’s jealousy ha ha much like the same idiots that slag off Apple and Android depending on what operating system you own. I like Waves I use them in conjunction with Softube and Plugin Alliance plugins but only if I think I need them. I’m most cases the Daw you use will do the job without slapping plugins on every track. NLS always adds a flavour to a mix. You also don’t need to be a genius to use it. People who winge why don’t you try have fun making music instead of slagging a nice little plugin off just because it’s Waves

stop calling it analog summing. in its very nature, it is the opposite.

+M. Craver - I think they've been pretty clear about it being a "modeled" analog sound, and not referring to it as "analog summing"... such as, "summing plug-in is modeled on"... "designed to bring analog warmth and character to..." On that note... have you actually used it?
@slim12757 жыл бұрын
I use this plug in on all of my mixes. It does make a difference. I'd love to know if all the people poo-pooing on it actually own the respective modeled consoles, or have bothered to use the plug in at least once.

@@MrDonnyAir But they are referring to it as analog summing. The plug-in is called Waves Non-Linear Summer, and this video is called "Analog Summing with Waves NLS."

Dear Mr. Hedges, if you are also talking to English non-native speaking audience, you will prefer to use Oxford/BBC/Queen’s English or whatever you want to call it. Not everywhere around the world can your high-speed muddy slang be understood. I know it is difficult to understand for people who never learned any language except their mother tongue.
