Thank you so much for the video and all the links to the necessary parts. As someone who mainly only knows software and had no idea where to start with a setup like this, the information here is a lifesaver. Cheers!

A very good video and explanation that was easy to follow, plus sharing your software if I was going to make one this would be nice to follow, Thanks Bob in the UK.

The display looks beautiful.

I’m really pleased with it. Still using it now. It’s a bit more trouble than a led display because of the way you have to shut it down but apart from that I really like it. Thanks for the feedback and for watching 👍🏽

Would you recommend if I were to make a clock out of it or the refresh would be too slow for a clock since it would need to refresh every minute?
@MikeMakesIt3 ай бұрын
@@silentobserver964 on a pi it takes around 30 seconds to reboot/refresh the display. This is when the display flickers. So for a clock, half the time there would be no real display. With a quicker processor perhaps you could get the display to refresh quicker. I’ve not looked at this though.

Came here to see how the strip was attached to the card. Just to have that part cut out of the video…

Hi Mike! Beautiful build! I am hoping to get started on my own project which involves pulling text from a google doc but have no idea where to start on the software side. Any tips/resources to get started?

For context: I have the pi setup and able to SSH into it, but don't really know how to go about interfacing the pi and waveshare display, and how to go about displaying my own custom text. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

@@Spoonblob Good luck with the build, unfortunately software isn’t my strong suit. I got most of my info from the net and pieced it all together. I find so long as I know the end goal there is usually something out there that can be adjusted to how you need it. Let me know how you get on and thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for the video mike, gonna get my hands on the displays to tinker around. Just a quick question, may i know the dimensions/specs of the standoffs and mounting screws that you purchased to fasten the boards together? I've tried the link in your description but was invalid. Thanks:)

Amazing ! Do you think this waveshare e-screen model could work for an ebook project ? Or maybe the refresh is too long ?
@MikeMakesIt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andres, thanks for the comments. Certainly when the display reboots (set to 3 times a day in software) it does take about 30 seconds with a Pi4 to totally reset. If you were going to use the same display for example read a Kindle type book if the refresh rate took 30 seconds I'd be looking for a different display but this display may be fine as there would be no need to reboot for your project potentially, just refresh, I've just had not used it in this way so couldn't say with authority yes or no. Check out the Waveshare site as I'm sure there will be information that may guide you on this. I hope this helps a little, if not come back to me and I'll do a bit of searching as well. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

Hello, you know your stuff very well! can you maybe help me? I have connected my display, the driver works, but the display doesn't show anything. I would be very grateful if you could help me?

@@leonrichter5943 Hi, my advice would be going over everything you have done, I expect you already have but it is easy to miss things and with the software one wrong space or , is the difference between running and not. Other people have built this project so all the information is sound. Good luck 👍🏽 but remember I do have an image of the software on my Google drive so this should eliminate any programming errors.

use battety?
@MikeMakesIt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Enio, you could use a USB battery bank although I chose to go the mains PSU route so I could fit and forget. That way I know the display will be refreshed everyday. If the battery pack died I may not notice and the display would not be refreshed as per manufacturers instructions. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
