@@RegalAutosport glad the customer loves it.. a good professional install! I have a 8th gen civic , merk supercharger and nitrous Express kit. Built trans from gear drivin and building my k24 to swap the 2.0 out with... I went with the wave truck hoping to get more traction on launches and turns .. love how it still works on deceleration. I was skeptical at first because I have heard stories of the axle getting stuck in the LSD. I believe those were the older versions and or improper installation just because it spins freely don't mean it's in spec you know?

I'll have some nice videos soon. Compared to my 2.0 botl ons with a base map lol I'm not even sure what to expect onces it's together. Infact I'll make one today , showing my parts and progress.. won't be fully done for atleast a month. Work has me super busy so I only have weekends to balance out family and wrench time

It’s the ring gear rivets which are drilled out, it’s a simple job that can be done with anyone who has the tools! We can offer a supply and fit on the same day

Absolutely. We actually installed a Wavetrac in our in-house track MK7R and it brought the front end of the car ALIVE. Massive improvement in traction as well as enjoyment into, around and out of corners

I have watched other MK7 GTI Wavetrack install videos, and the other videos showed the installer taking all the gears out of the transmission in order to access the differential, but in this video, it looks like you just pulled the stock diff out of the transmission while leaving the other gears inside. Is it really possible to do this job leaving the gears inside and just pulling the stock diff out? This looks so much easier than taking all the gears out, and then trying to piece them all back in. I plan on putting the Wavetrack in my 2017 MK7 GTI base S 6spd manual, and if it really this easy, I would do it myself at home. Can anyone clarify or confirm this? For reference, I’ve taken my transmission out myself 3 times now for clutch upgrades, so I’m very used to taking the transmission in and out of the car.

You do not need to remove the gearset to install the Wavetrac. However, it is recommended that the Wavetrac be installed by a professional with all of the necessary tools, information and equipment to carry out the job to a high standard.

You should always measure and adjust preload and backlash as part of gearbox installs, as with any other aftermarket differential.

It would be helpful for your DIY’s to show how you set the preload on your next Mk7 GTi. Changing the diff for a Wavetrac is not a simple task for the casual DIYer. A shop definitely earns their money for a large undertaking like this. For the serious home tech, it would be helpful to show how you remove the bearing cups and check the preload. Install the new bearing cups and seals with the new shim and recheck. Taking the clutch side casing off is way easier than removing the back casing, but it makes the cup and seal install a little trickier on the back casing.

If it was a dyno tune, then yes, we would have a before and after. We have our first in-house car being delivered tomorrow which we'll be using on this channel to go into greater detail where previously we could not.

i don't understand why OEMs still using open-diffs or clutch-LSDs with all complicated traction system instead of the Wavetrac LSD or at least Quaife LSD that can do auto lock & auto torque balance precisely for both streets & off roading with less part & low maintenance cost?! 1012
