I just realized I have wavy hair. Growing up, I had semi-wavy but mostly straight hair, so I treated it as straight and so did my mom. I’ve been using generic shampoos and conditioners and always brushed my hair very roughly. As I got older I noticed my hair had gotten even wavier, but with all the years of treating my hair as straight, the waves are just inconsistent and dry. I don’t even know where to start🥺

for 23 years, i never really knew that there was a difference betwern straight and wavy hair. it your hair wasn't curly, it was straight and so i knew my hair was wavy, but for me wavy was just... a type of straight. the only time it had any sort of wave to it was when it was unbrushed or wet. ive been learning more about my natural pattern (mostly 2b, little into 2c. fine thickness and average density, high porosity ) and there really has been a massive difference in the 5 months of change.

When you have curly/wavy hair, your hair is naturally VERY dry. Co-washing or using sulfate-free shampoo allows your natural oils to remain in your hair. Shampooing once a week (or less often) can cleanse your hair so you can get back to keeping it moisturized.

I think it’s a personal choice that’s up to you. You can improve the health of your hair without going full blown curly girl but again it’s all your choice.

Similar thing happened to me, my hair was curly underneath & just frizzy on top so I tried out the cgm just for the heck of it. LET ME TELL YOU...IT WORKS. Now I was having the same doubts of “should I spend money” because it can be expensive, so I took a trip to target & got the Not Your Mothers Curl Talk line which works great for type 2/3 hair. I encourage trying the cgm, don’t get deva curl products or products as expensive because you might not stick with it & it might not work for you. I hope this helped & I hope you start your journey🤗

I thought my hair was straight on top and wavy underneath, and my goal was shine and less frizz. But now a few months in and it's a lot more curly than I imagined and I love it. It can be pretty cheap to get started and for me it was definitely worth trying.

I'm 3b on bottom ranging to 2a on top. I keep trying to remind myself that the whole reason I started cgm was to help my hair be healthier so it wouldn't all break off. Learning how to keep hair healthy makes it a much better canvas to work with, whether you're using heat or not.

Stop! I straightened my hair from the age of 10-19 every day. My hair was murdered. Dry, frizzy, barely grew. I stopped touching it with heat unless I really want to style it for a special occasion. The only products I put in my hair are shampoo and conditioner and that’s only 2/3 times a week. I don’t use a hairdryer because it causes further heat damage. And products just sit in my hair and make it gross and make it need washing every day. I’m nearly two years into doing it and honestly my hair has never been so healthy and shiny and manageable. I never thought I could have hair like that

There are a myriad of reasons as to why your hair just puffs up instead of being defined and holding its shape including how you’re detangling, the products you’re using, the application method you’re using and how you’re sleeping on it. Try a couple different techniques (praying hands, raking, roping, etc) on both wet hair and damp hair. Also try plopping before air drying or diffusing and add in an alcohol free hair gel if you haven’t already!
@litcara88065 жыл бұрын

One thing I used to do after showering was brush it out. Big no-no, but my friends all did it. If you’re a wavy girl, it’s just gonna dry poofy. Best thing to do is after toweling and adjusting your hair, leave it alone haha. If that doesn’t work, try changing shampoos and how you apply products.
@galymm55135 жыл бұрын
maybe if you use more light weight products would help. also scrunching if you don’t already do it. also washing and scrunching your hair upside down could help the water not weigh down your curls

for a lot of my life, i didn't realize my hair was wavy. which is kind of funny, considering the fact when i was really young my hair was long and very wavy. my mom has very straight and fine hair so i assumed my hair was the same. i always hated my hair (still do) because it would get so frizzy and it looked like a rats nest whenever i brushed it. i only learned my hair was wavy a few years ago when i got it cleaned up, and i still don't know how to take care of it properly. most of the hair tips i found were for curly hair, so that obviously hasn't worked out for me. but this video did point out a lot of things i wasn't doing to take care of my hair, so hopefully in the future it'll get better.

I'm guilty of product switching, but what I do (and it works for me with my 2B/2C hair anyway) is either 1 part Baking Soda to 3 parts water or if my hair is really bad I use more Baking Soda to wash and I use ACV afterwards the wash before I try new. That's how I do my no poo method and it basically restarts my hair so I can try new and know if it's a win, meh, or flop

I have type 2b / 2c hair that’s very thick and layered and whenever I wash it I do the methods that work for me ex: prayer hands and scrunching, leave in conditioner. And during that day I don’t brush it bc it gets frizzy. Then before I sleep that day I brush it so in the morning it’s not frizzy. I use Pantene shampoo and conditioner as well as it’s a 10 leave in conditioner. Also, I wash my hair every over day, like I take a shower in the morning don’t brush it and then the next day I brush it wear it then the next day I brush and wear it, and wash it at 5 so i sleep with it dry and then brush it before I sleep. And I never put heat on my hair ever. Am I doing the right thing with my hair? And should I continue to brush my hair the following days post shower. (My mom has type 3a / 3b hair and deep conditions and washes it once a week and she doesn’t brush it, however we have different hair types and idk what to do)

I'm trying to get my daughter's hair to look better. I have straight hair with 1 wave that starts at my ears lol so I just do whatever with mine honestly. Her's is wavy but frizzy and I think it's because we've been treating it like straight hair. I started co washing. If there's alcohol in the ingredients should I stay away from the product? I'm trying to get her hair to look good before she starts school. I'm lost on what to buy for her too. I found out about deva curl yesterday, I was going to buy it like 10 months ago but procrastinated thankfully.

The alcohol may be drying her hair out, you may wanna start with the Shea Moisture brand (it's pretty inexpensive and at target) I think the best thing to do is accept that there's gonna be a lot of trial and error in taking care of your daughter's hair (believe me I've been there with my own mom!). Also, if you happen to have a regular hair dresser with your daughter they might be able to recommend products and tips since they're really used to seeing a variety of hair types.

i have wavy hair and my underneath hair always has a few lovely curls but the top of my hair is flat and ugly with very little waves. my hair is super long (past my hips) and thick which i know can weigh it down but im sure my hair could still be wavy.

My hair is so much curly, I didn't like it when I was in school as I didn't have right products to take care of them. Now, it's a different story. For me wash day is a great day I guess. Anybody with me? 😀

I’m confused my hairs leaning towards the dry side but my scalp gets very oily and itchy after wash days and I know you shouldn’t wash your hair more than 1-2 a week, maybe it’s my shampoo and conditioner?

i shampoo every 1-2 days and have never had any problems with dandruff or itchy scalp. should i still exfoliate my scalp?

I workout every single day and sweat a lot, so I have no choice but washing and going through my wavy hair routine everyday... I don't love it but I have to... I would wash it every 3 days otherwise. Is there any advice on that? Is there anyway to make everyday wash less "damaging"?

Such a helpful video with really great tips! I’m still learning how to take good care of my hair after stopping the curly girl method. I feel like my wavy hair looked and felt so much better before I started the CG method and I should have never tried it. You’ve earned a new subscriber and I’m about to go through your videos because I need help and you explain things very well. Seriously, you’re amazing. 🙏🏽

I’m just starting the journey to get my natural hair. In terms of not damaging my hair at night, my hair is too thick to get it to the top of my head (either that or I just suck at styling hair). I try to sleep with braids in, but that can disrupt my wave pattern. Any advice for how I should go about this?
