Love that you are a Vet, your work is awesome. I'm a retired cop and desert storm vet. I also have a woodshop with a shapeoko cnc and love making things. The more I'm in the shop the better I get. Focusing on the present makes me realize how awesome life is and how grateful I am to have come this far in life.

Awesome to see vets make beautiful pieces like this! I spent time in Bagram 2010 and Kandahar in 2011. I subscribed and like this video to help...I hope your channel grows! I have just a few years left before I hit 20, who knows what the next chapter will bring but I am an avid woodworker and DIY person. I found your channel from searching xTool videos; just bought the new S1 laser machine. It will play a big role in making templates for routing and personalizing projects.

Thanks for the vid brother. I think we shared some of the same dirt (sand) in the M.E. The flag is just phenomenal. Now I'm wondering if my MUSE 3D can do this? Going to have to send a note off the Spectrum Laser. I'd like to re-create this flag.

Thank you for your service. How did you fill in the stars with white? Will the P2 be on sale for Black Friday?
@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
I filled the stars with white acrylic paint, then sand the top surface to leave a nice edge. I can’t speak to upcoming deals xTool has coming up, but I would most certainly keep an eye out for Black Friday deals. Cheers!

What a beautiful home made flag! After all that work I would have been afraid to engrave on it but!!! Xtool is awesome and with that new curved feature it was perfect for your flag engraving. How did you fill in the stars with white? And I watch Samcraft myself but only his Xtool videos Love the flag ❤
@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I painted the stars with white acrylic paint, then sanded the top surface to leave a clean edge. Samcraft really does do a lot of great things and definitely wanted to give him a shoutout. Thanks for watching!

What type of wood did you use for this project?
@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
Steve, I ended up using walnut, Paduak, and hard maple for the wavy flag. The xTool P2 had no issues engraving on them. Cheers and thanks for watching!

Great Veterans Day video and content as a Marine corps veteran amazing work. Brother I would like to connect have a question how or what are you filling your stats with?
@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
Jose, thanks! I used white acrylic paint to paint the stars and usually put two coats on it. After it dries, which is pretty fast, I’ll quickly sand the surface. The finish I put on really highlights the acrylic. Cheers brother!

I tried making one of these for my stepson who just made Sgt in the Army and I did EXACTLY like you and didn’t take into account the laser head and my flag doesn’t fit under the laser. I don’t have all the tools you do so it’s been benched for now. But I’ve always wanted of these for myself so I will revisit this project soon. The question I have is how did you add the white to your stars? Thank you for your service!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
Hey! Super cool you made one for your son! The way I worked around my clearance issues was I added the pass-through base to the laser. This fixed it, and looking it at it further, I could make the union part bigger and break up the file and carefully place each section to burn. There are options to work through for that, but I think it's doable. Cheers and hopefully your flag for your son turns out! E5 (Sergeant) was my most favorite rank in the Army! Its where the rubber meets the road!
@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
Almost forgot! The added white to the stars is just acrylic paint, just two coats will do, then send the surface to leave the nice clean edge.
@specopveteran11 ай бұрын
@@EricksonWoodworking I didn’t even try using the pass through on my base. When I do tumblers I can never get the auto measure to work unless the item is at the height of where the slats would be. I’ll have to play around with it and see what I can do. Thanks for responding and the advice/tips.

@EricksonWoodworking11 ай бұрын
Cliff, thanks and yes, this wavy flag was much larger than the plaque version. This one came in around 25”x 13”. I am extremely impressed with the P2.

What type of wood did you use for the union. I’m guessing walnut but just wanted to make sure. Also where did you get the file for the wavey flag. I’m currently using Vcarve pro on the CNC side of things

Cliff, you were spot on, it’s Walnut. The file for the 3D curve surface can be found here: www.etsy.com/listing/806419447/cnc-stl-3d-waving-flag-beautiful-highly?click_key=28274db3f3de35363986fee43260016b5915fea6%3A806419447&click_sum=b1e23074&external=1&rec_type=ss&ref=pla_similar_listing_top-8
