I'm european, gun violence isn't the biggest problem in my country and I grew up with toy guns, but never became violent (surprise, surprise) When I was in kindergarden and summer was just around the corner, the teachers would let us bring our water guns to school and have battles with them in the yard. No one ever got hurt and we had lots of fun. No teachers were against it. But once in third grade, there was a similar case to this one: my class was having a costume party and one of my classmates dressed up as a cowboy or a policeman, I can't really remember now, and brought a cap revolver to go along with his costume (it was one of those cheap revolvers you found at the corner store) it didn't look real at all and he simply had it in some kind of holster. He didn't even have any caps loaded into it, but as soon as my teacher saw it, she took it away because according to her "It sent a negative message to all the other kids" Man, I always hated that teacher
