Bro as a beatmaker/producer, sometimes all the motivation you need is watching more people do and talk about producing and making beats with their own sense of passion to it and Alchemist does it all the time, every time I listen to him talk about the technicals of beatmaking I'm instantly up to make another one

Araab Muzik has crazy skills. He's probably the best finger drummer that I've ever seen, but I think he would benefit from having a partner, to resample his chops, and tone it down a bit. His beats always sound like a million things going on at once. Sometimes you got to let the beat breath, and make room for an artist. It's impressive to see him do his thing, I'm not hating, but his placements that I've heard, weren't as good as his live performances. I feel like that's why he never got to a Swizz Beats or Neptunes level. His beats have a similar vibe to theirs, but I feel like they're better producers, and he's more of a beat maker than a producer.

In the same, but different video, the part at 1:35 was muted and it said "Top Secret". Now, after all these years and FINALLY listening to what they were talking about, I STILL don't understand what they mean. What thee HELL do they mean about making beats without the timing? I thought you needed to quantize your drums (or melodies) to make a beat sound perfect because everything is in place and in order. Can someone elaborate, or dumb it down for me?
@A_Class216
@A_Class216 3 жыл бұрын
To put it simple. Not quantizing gives your drums, melodies, etc more human/natural feel. Sometimes I'll quantize my drums or hihats and then nudge them slightly off the grid.
@alfredschnozzenstein1657
@alfredschnozzenstein1657 3 жыл бұрын
@@A_Class216 Dude, I am so sorry if I'm asking too much, but when you say not quantizing; so, for example, I use Logic Pro X, when I'm in the piano/grid view, what you're saying is that it's okay if it's slightly off, or off in general (as long as it sounds right) when you make a beat? As in, let's say you're sending a beat to an artist, it won't look bad on you if the beats sound nice, but things aren't quantized? Again, I apologize, but I always thought that in order for your beats to be "acceptable", everything had to snap on (quantize) to the grid. I am thinking of it like there is a right and wrong way on making music. I'm trying to trying to gain more knowledge my friend.
@A_Class216
@A_Class216 3 жыл бұрын
@@alfredschnozzenstein1657 It's ok. Your absolutely correct. Think about it like this. When a drummer or pianist is playing there are never exactly on time. There always slightly off that's what makes live music feel more natural.
