We have quite the hygrocybe/waxy cap diversity here in some of my favorite foraging spots. I do miss them this time of the year when they are buried in ice and snow ❄️! Those parrot wax caps look awesome.

I have been a novice mushroom hunter for a long time and I really have learned so much from your videos. It's renewed my interest and excitement. I love how excited you were when you found the parrot!! Such a thrill. I found my first reishi in the Columbia River gorge the other day. I was also excited like a kid. Thanks Aaron for all your videos!!

I have seen "hair ice" squeezing right out of mud around here. Not sure if it has anything to do with fungi.

3:26pm i would love to go out and pick mushrooms but that i have never done it because I don't know what can be edible I'm afraid to pick any . Thank you
@dustin8609 күн бұрын
Click on this hoping to see if you found the similar red ones that I've been fighting around my area. First ones you pick up are the cherry red wax caps, and I have been finding those all over! Unfortunately it's the only ones that I've found so far. I had misidentified them as Scarlet waxy caps
@foxmulder76169 күн бұрын
Nice. Only winter mushrooms you can find around here are dried shaggy mane, it hasn't rained in over six months lol 😞

@foxmulder76169 күн бұрын
@mushroomwonderland1 southern Arizona lol Phoenix area. I've only seen a handful of mushrooms, and 99% were shaggy manne, once , I saw a bolete, that was living in a median, that had irrigation and mulch. It's slim pickins lol

great video! alot of nice finds. the camera sounds you edited in for the pictures are kinda offputting to me tbh... loved the spore measurements tho ❤

@@ChriFux Yeah I could see that but little embellishments kind of spice up a video that might be boring otherwise. IDK. Hard to please everyone! 🍄🤙

Do you ever have group guided forages?
@mushroomwonderland19 күн бұрын
I do! We held a dozen foray groups last fall. Not too sure about spring forays but there will definitely be more next fall. You can find details at mushroomwonderland.com. I also teach classes at Olympic College, and there will be spring sessions and they're every affordable! Check the links in the description of this video for more info. Mush Love!

If they aren't mycorrhizal, why would they usually be found around the cedar and maple.
@mushroomwonderland19 күн бұрын
I think it's the way that the soil gets conditioned from the debris from the leaves/scales. Also, those trees tend to thrive in certain high-moisture habitats. So I think mainly it's environmental conditions like moisture and nutrients.

Tip on the microscopy: only measure the spores with the apiculus is in focus and on one of the corners of the spore all the margin should be sharp focus then and it will be the largest and possible Qvalue aka what you want to measure

All mushrooms are edible... some are edible only once.
