I know of a patch in Eugene, that has been reliable for the past three years. Some from that patch don't look like the traditional tall, slim, shallow flying saucer cap, with sharp umbo. They are pretty chunky with a longer bell shaped cap and broad umbo. The landscaping was changed from turf grass to bamboo and Doug fir chips about 6 or seven years ago. I have been wondering how they found their way to that spot from the coast.

_Ps. azurescens_ will at times show up _near_ that invasive dune grass, but not right in the stuff. I've seen it along coastal roads fruiting around Himalayan blackberry and Scotch Broom (also invasive) -- more commonly you find _Ps. allenii_ and _Ps. cyanescens_ in such areas. They do also show up from time to time in wood chip beds in proximity to those dune grasses. And they can be easily cultivated in wood chips. Preferably hardwoods like Alder, Maple, or Oak. But probably also Douglas Fir. Also, azzies have moved south somewhat, for sure. So they aren't exclusively around the mouth of the Columbia, but they are _far_ more common there. Cyans and and _Ps allenii_ will also show up in those grassses, colonizing the blade detritus and the woody, dead rhizome mats.

Will Alan ever explore New England? My heart tells me the area is rich in psilocybe. I’ve only found Gymnopilus in Lyme, CT. There must be a large, diverse population of psilocybe in New England too. We have the perfect geography for them. Lots of grazing pastures, manure, woodchip beds everywhere. Stream beds, lots of disrupted areas, even clear cuts. Huge forested areas with hiking trails, horse trails, and even dune grasses from Cape Cod down through the CT coast….etc. I just don’t understand how the area isn’t chock full of psilocybe. I’ve found ergot growing from many different grasses but we are sorely lacking in psilocybe. Unless they are cultivated and introduced into the environment. My intuition tells me they must already be there.

The paralysis kind of effect from cyans is because they can rapidly deplete various chemicals/vitamins that are critical to neurotransmitter function and regeneration. You can mitigate the effects by making sure to take B12, Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc, and Amino Acids before your adventure. Pedialyte is a good idea, also. I have experienced the effect as being able to tense muscles but then having a delay when you try to relax them. The reverse can also happen. This makes things like walking very difficult if not impossible in the most severe instances.

I'd bet dude could have had Shiitake's and the cops would have busted him. They were may have been making assumptions, and fairly so, based heavily on the circumstances and method the mushrooms were being held. Mushrooms in your cooler with some burger patties, buns and condiments, at a campground vs mushrooms buried in the bottom of a knapsack, in a baggy, going into a festival. Context is everything. :)

Aaron, be careful. There was a live conversation with Dr Gordon, a mycologist. He said he can't talk about medicinal mushrooms, that have psychoactive properties, because they could take his videos down. If I remember correctly? He said he has a separate channel for that? @hyperionsolomon87182 ай бұрын
@mushroomwonderland1 yes. During a live show a few weeks ago, he didn't want to cover it, he actively ignored me, Gordon didn't even want to say the word out loud. I asked him why he was ignoring, and that's when he explained he was worried about getting shut down. I felt very embarrassed, and bad for him simultaneously. I'd just check the T&C and be careful, that's all I'm saying. You're gaining a lot of traction and becoming increasingly popular. The more popular you become...the higher the probability that somebody's going to report something.
