This 1939 movie plot was written by Langston Hughes. The
screenplay was written by Clarence Muse and Langston Hughes.
Clarence Muse also star in the movie and also co-directed it.
Both Clarence Muse and Langston Hughes had intelligent and
genius minds. Clarence Muse and Langston Hughes use slavery
as the avenue for this movie.

I know it’s hard to watch/triggering, but when I think of what the ancestors went through for Me, I watched anyway. It’s the least I could do.

This was written by Langston Hughes and Clarence Muse, but the producers of the film changed a lot of the script. The "good slave sholuld never be naughty" slap was added in by the producers. The movie was supposed to be way more revolutionary, the producers and movie execs ruined it!

Yeah, They insisted it be realistic instead of the currently popular propaganda of mean old white people.

Pretty incredible that this depiction of racial harmony in the antebellum South was written by Langston Hughes!

John Lawson, Atlanta had more free blacks than any northern city. Northern states didn’t allow slavery or blacks.

Worse than Song Of The South. A movie such as this one would not get past the drawing board these days. I half way expected to see at least one watermelon thief and a dice game during this one hour travesty.

Bobby Breen, the youngster who stars in this film, who's parents were refugees from the Ukraine, and as Jews in the 1930s, also faced discrimination, as did the composer of the Academy Award nominated score, Victor Young. Both shape-shifted to conform to the Western European cultural mode.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIiWan6Fm8SZZpY This video let's us know we were better off being segregated. Integration only stunted our growth and derailed our need to be our own producers. We fell for the illusion of inclusion.
