I just want you to know that THIS was the first time we were introduced to Jeff Blim. He hadn't been in any Starkid projects before this and none of us knew him, and then he just showed up as Sweet Tooth and it was the craziest thing ever. He really stole the show and I'm so happy that he's still a major part of Starkid today (he's written the music for the majority of their recent projects, including the new show whose Kickstarter goes live tomorrow!)

Robin (Dick Grayson): Circus Performer parents killed. Adopted by Bruce. Wanted to do his own thing and so he moved out, made the Teen Titans, became Nightwing and dated Starfire. Robin (Jason Todd): Homeless Kid who was caught by Batman trying to steal the Batmobile's tires. Lived with Bruce until the Joker kidnapped him, beat him with a crowbar and then blew him up. Resurrected and became the Red Hood. Robin (Tim Drake): Discovered Batman's identity and became Robin as to stop Batman being edgy after his last Robin was brutally killed. Robin (Damien Wayne): Son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul. Trained by the League of Shadows since birth until Talia made Damien live with his father who just found out about him.

great video as always! the Star Wars musical is a bit different (the songs are performed by the band, not on stage), and for many people it's their least favourite one, I think, so it's not surprising that it didn't get many votes (but it's still worth checking out, especially if you like Star Wars) also don't forget about Tin Can Bros shows - Spies are Forever is very good, I'd even say it's my favourite (it's a musical about spies, lol); and Solve it Squad is a Scoobie Doo parodie, it's just one act, if I'm not mistaken

If you like Star Wars the jokes and references are pretty funny. If you don’t care or know as much about SW then it could fail to hit. I think my biggest initial turnoff was the portrayal of Vader as a Patrick Warburton type character. It was so unexpected and odd that it took awhile to get used to. I think I started liking it on my second viewing.

The most obscure villain is Sweet Tooth himself in my opinion. As an other commenter already mentioned: during the writing process the Lang Brothers excluded the Joker entirely so they needed another main villain. They didn't wanted to take an existing Batman rogue and came up - like Superman says - with the supposedly dummest theme for a villain: Candy, and Sweet Tooth was born. Later they found out, that the villain Sweet Tooth already existed in the Batman canon as a minor rogue in the animated series. So it can be truly said, that everything can and likely already be a theme for a Batman villain - there are just to many!

I'm definitely a proponent of watching the Hatchetfield musicals during Halloween and the other shows in between. But otherwise, since the Nightmare Times fall in between the musicals and give better context and more world building, it's easier to follow along if you do them all back to back.

I knew you would be so excited to see the villains, can't wait for part 3! You def do not need to play the game to understand Trail to Oregon, the references don't cut that deep - you're pretty much set with what you know about the ending screen lol Since you asked about Ani (Star Wars show), as other have said it doesn't have musical acts in the same way other shows do so it's not everyone's cup of tea. it's also a bit niche in the star wars references it has - focuses mostly on prequels & thre's even a character from the (no longer cannon rip) expanded universe or whatever they call it. plus it ran at the same time as Trail To Oregon, so Ani ended up kinda losing in comparison and is often forgotten by the fandom haha. it is still definitely worth checking out!!

Personally, I love Ani, the Star Wars parody… But I think it tends to be less popular because it’s not a musical as such… There are background songs that are great, there are fun dance numbers and it might be one of the funniest shows they’ve done, but it’s not the type of show that Team Starkid fans are super into, for the most part… At least that’s the impression I get… Personally it’s one of my favourite shows they’ve done… I think you’ll love it… It’s just different though, so it’s kinda divisive compared to many of their other shows.

So I looked up if Sherlock Holmes, Huckleberry Finn and Mother Goose are connected to batman, But apparently Mother Goose is a DC villain from the Plastic Man comics And Huckleberry Finn seems to be mostly referencing J.D. Finn being named after Huckleberry Finn. However, Sherlock Holmes is actually a Batman "antagonist" at one point. Antagonist being in quotes because he's not actually trying to do crime, But he is actively trying to outsmart Batman.
@Quirderph7 ай бұрын
To clarify, Batman met the "real" Sherlock Holmes. "Evil Sherlock Holmes" in this musical is implied to just be some crook who styled himself after the (presumably fictional) literary character.
@BramLastname7 ай бұрын
@@Quirderph Thanks for the clarification, Tho to be honest I'd be surprised if Starkid actually knew about any of this stuff, Since there's a good chance it all accidentally lines up.

Also you don't need to watch the Hatchetfield musicals one after the other directly (although I do recommend you see them in the order of their release, TGWDLM then Black Friday then NPMD), you will remember all the references they make in the other ones (which happen in an alternate universe of the same town so the story is not linear fyi) so don't stress :D

Harley Quinn is actually an original creation of the animated series, so there were definitely some influential characters and stories that came from that. I believe what Starkid does would be considered transformational parody, and therefore protected from claims of copyright infringement.

Sweet Tooth is also an actual DC character, he show ups in the Superfriends cartoon but he looks quite different he was a big dude with only one tooth obsessed with candy and wear a pink jersey and a boat captain hat in this he’s clearly a joker spoofs but he’s still great since they give Starkid a lot of freedom to play with the character and make candy theme jokes
