I love the shot of Dallas' locker room watching and the Flyer fan sign. Not even Philly could boo this moment

i was there and telilng the stories of what wasnt on broadcast i remembered a fishing boat with gold lining i think but i do remember thinking, are we on the Price is Right lmfao, still i was sobbing the whole time, i was 12 but also EVERYONE was crying during his 'post game salute' we were just SO deflated when Jagr scored tho, but to learn HE WASNT GONNA PLAY until he learned it was waynes last game makes it hurt just a lil more even 25yrs later

I was there...we had tix before we knew about Gretzky cuz it was on my Dads's Bday and my Step Mom didnt realize the game meant nothing since we were out of the playoffs, THEN we found out about it and ill never forget, i was 12 and being in a room of 25+k grown adults crying the emotion was palpable, i cried my lil eyes out when he saluted us all after...if i remember we gave him a fishing boat they brought out thru the zamboni entrance and there was this whole on ice thing they did - also i LOVE how they changed BOTH national anthems to fit Gretzky...today they'd call that 'woke' and FOX would lose their minds about the 'anti american nhl' lmfao

His final game shouldn't have ended like this, a ceremony to start a regular season match. His final game should have been a playoff match, ending with him hoisting the Cup.

Maybie it would hav had he listened to his dad n played 1 more yr, the Avs could hav signed him for the minimum

@@slapshot68 His dad actually suggested that? Anyway, in 1999-2000, it was New Jersey that won it.

Of the special guests, I wondered why his father Gordie Howe wasn't there? He would have had a thrill to greet Gretzky one last time on the ice.
