Used to make a weekend out of it, spending time out at our extended families places, having a big meal, playing with my cousins, (I was born in 75) and as soon as the HNIC song came on we'd all get ready to watch the games. It was such a big part of my youth, (as well as playing from 6-16) it was amazing watching Gretzky play. Even though I was a Habs/Rangers fan (my team was the Rangers lol), but I still remember some of the absolutely unreal plays Gretzky would make. It was unreal what he could do on the ice. That's the thing though... diet is overrated, you don't eat your way to becoming a pro athlete. He's basically saying that he ate what he felt like, because it was just for quick fuel.. If you eat proper food, sleep well, and excercise - you can get your quick energy from pretty much anything, because you're burning them anyway. People conflate things like alcohol, transfats, or nicotine (harmful substances that outright damage cells) with things that are not necessarily harmful unless you consume them in the wrong way or overindulge (like sugars and fats)
