And for your suggestion box: I'd love to see what/how much you pack, and your favorite sites and resources for planning--like, I'd have no idea how to start planning a bus leg outside of the US.

You read my mind; I have a packing video scehduled for next week and one about planning in the works, but I will definitely make sure I cover bus travel! Thanks for all of your comments and questions!

I have no tips but all your favorite questions. Call me the Riddler. To be less overwhelming I'm going to put each in its own comment. Block me as needed. 😆 I LOVE your cancellation reminder tip! I've never heard that one. And I knew you could use 'anywhere' in Google flights but not for searching accommodations. Very cool. I can't wait to hear your plans for the year. So, for credit cards, do you have a bunch like some points hackers I see out there or do you have just a few? I'm guessing one is a Capital One or else their portal wouldn't make sense.

Fire away! I have several cards and will definitely do a video about that, as I do think that which one(s) you have depends on what you are doing right now. I have the links in the description, but I think if you are still in the US, the AMEX Gold and IHG make the most sense, as AMEX Gold gets good points on groceries, and you can transfer them to airlines, and the IHG will give you hotel points!

I'm imagining to get the most out of points for airlines you need to be part of the frequent flyer programs of a LOT of them to use partner benefits. Is this your experience at all?

Not necessarily! If you build up points through a travel portal, you can sign up for the frequent flyer program as needed, right before you transfer the points. I also normally would do that if I was paying too. But many of them are partners, so if you are not using points, you can have the points that you earn from flying go to the main partner instead of the carrier you are flying. But yes, you sometimes do need to keep track of a few different ones!

@@TheWalkingThomasGuide thanks for ALL these answers! I do appreciate the extra info on top of what you already shared in the video. I was just telling someone last night about how my superpower is overanalyzing things and hammering people for information. I'm sure if I do start traveling this way it'll all just start to come to me. But while in my living room, overanalyzing it is! lol I'm looking forward to those next videos you've got planned! Sounds like good stuff.

@@hicutiecar I get it! I also like to have as much information as possible! However, you are right; you just need to give it a shot and you will have a great time, no matter what, and guess what, we all have to also fail a little sometimes too!

I've seen some travelers abandoning Air BnB--for a variety of reasons. Are you using them at all or mainly Booking?

I use a mix. It really depends on the options and location. I do a lot of research on the reviews and amenities and such, and also I am still trying to complete a bonus requirement for one of my credit cards so I don't mind paying up front at the moment and since they are all cancelable I feel like I can always change my mind!
