Ugh that is so frustrating that another online creator was dishonest. And oh my goodness, the craigslist rental thing was in our video too! We got super lucky that our in-laws were wiser than us at that time.

I just thought of another scam I fell for while watching yours. When you mentioned ebay...I once bought a DVD set of a tv show on ebay and the DVDs didn't work. The seller, who had a great reputation by the way, told me to send them back and they would send me some new ones. I sent them back and they never sent me new ones. I tried contacting ebay, but they didn't do anything about it. I think it was more than 10 years before I ever tried buying anything else on ebay again! I can't believe I forgot to talk about this in my video! Also, I get CONSTANT calls about my student loans trying to make them go away. I always tell them that I like my student loans 😂 Thanks for putting this collab together! I've already learned so much!

I love that you tell them you like your student loans LOL! I bet they don't know how to respond to that. And I can't believe ebay didn't do anything about it...from what I'm aware of they do have buyer / seller protection and have a medium to dispute charges-- but guess it doesn't always work!

@@OwenYourFuture It left a VERY sour taste in my mouth with ebay and I still hesitate to even look on there for things I might want. But I did buy something within the last year or two...it was the only place I could find the book I was looking for at a decent price and because ebay is still so big and still going strong, I can't completely blame them. If they were always that crappy to people, they wouldn't still be where they are today. I might end up telling that story in a separate video now that I've remembered it. If I do, I will link the whole collab again as well!

You guys know your scams! I loved listening to all of your stories. How frustrating to be in Africa and learn your flight wasn't "secured." I don't blame you for just paying the price. I've traveled some, but haven't run across fraud during my travels. The majority of my time spent was in Asia, and if anything, I probably scammed them because the people were just so kind and generous. I love your advice about taking photos with real time, facetime, video chat, etc. I'll definitely use that in the future.

traveling can be so vulnerable! I travelled a lot in Asia too, and felt the same as you- the people were so friendly and kind, I never felt scammed either!

I once was into getting my hair braided...those tiny little braids...all over my head. One time the person charged me up front and I gave her the money. She braided half my head and refused to braid the other half unless I gave her more money...and I did.
