Immediately diving back into Starsector can lead to stress and mistakes. And that's okay. Here on this channel mistakes are both manifest and paramount -- imperfect play is part of the fun. Right? Starsector is a very moddable game, and if you are familiar with the game there are always mods available to take your game further. Welcome to me playing Starsector. I miss out on a lot of people's favorite ships. What was the ship specifically again so I can know to highlight it if I see it again?

11:40 - When you poke your head into a dangerous system, you might want to go dark before entering instead of just when you want to explore more. 54:40 - Yeah... think those guys are like pirates. They don't care about your transponder, only if you're hostile to them or not. You aren't, so their ports are safe. A modification you could make to your salvaging rules is that you can only *keep* one ship from any system. As in you salvage a ship, then find a better ship, you can scuttle the previous one and take the new one. You just can't keep both and *have* to destroy the old one to take the new one, and your choice is 'solidified' when you leave the system or repair the ship to functioning order.

I was thinking the same thing. Keep the best ship, not the first ship salvaged

I'll consider the "keep one ship" rule depending on how things go -- especially since I don't know how exactly these rules are going to translate into the late game.

The alternative is that I could just be better at picking the right ship, even if that means I'm punished because my impatience leads me to miss something better.

yeah, i think a very purposeful fleet selection during combat will be key to this run

There's something just magical about Starsector's post-fall setting. Space post-apocalypse is a genre I've always been infatuated with, and it's a great way to replicate that Mount and Blade charm for sci-fi. I've been aware of this game since it was way smaller and the vibe has always been on-point, but with all the actual additions, mods, and your expert gameplay, good voice, and insightful commentary, plus the fun roleplay setup, it's just a treat. I can just imagine how your character feels exploring these dangerous and uncharted sectors, trying to run a small fleet despite being infamous sector-wide, maybe her crew would comment on it one way or another and she has to deal with that, etc.

FYI, the console has tab completion, so you only need to type enough of a command it can only be that command, then hit the tab key, and it will complete the rest of the command. For example, I can just type "cap" for the CaptainsLog command to be tab completed. Also things like holding the ctrl key while moving or deleting to act on words rather than letters work.

I'll try to remember that. I've grown so distrustful of autocomplete that i rarely use it.

First of all I love your content and especially appreciate your guides to setting up and midding starsector. Anyway im trying to install all of the mods you have in the description and a few of them are red in the mod loader and don't allow me to enable them. How do i get around that? Are you playing on a different version of the game? Thanks in advance

Okay if you're saying what I think you're saying then what you're going to need to do is to go into the mod config files and adjust the version listed there. I can give a better breakdown later if you still need help. I had to brute force a few mods to be on the correct version and they work.

29:30 Man usually the offers from a bar give way more money for how easy it is. That was the opposite. Did you change stuff like payouts too?
