Ah, nothing says nostalgia like watching the channel 2 newscasts from the eighties, the ads are classic, pop for cheap at Jewel, an Audi was affordable, & Oldsmobile was in business, I do remember the news at 10pm every night, keep posting this stuff, it makes my day since trivia is my forte

I grew up in Chicago in the 1970's and when my dad watched the local news it was usually Channel 2 with Bill and Walter. Even as a kid I loved Walter's Perspective because though I didn't always understand exactly what he was talking about, I knew he was taking on the one's who thought they were above the rest of us. Plus he was funny while being erudite and critical without being vitriolic or self righteous. Now we have Tik Tok. As a high school teacher for the last thirty years I can honestly tell you how everyday I thank the stars that I was born in 1965.

Great description of Perspectives; I enjoyed watching those as well. His investigative reports were just as pointed, and often hilarious.

Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, I totally agree. I am sure their humor was another element. I can remember when Bill's wife tragically passed away and Walter did a beautiful ode to her and Bill during his slot. Even as a kid I was incredibly moved. All the best.

"Walter Jacobson's Perspective......" I miss that. 😏 One year, a CPS school kept calling about a student's absence. Time and time again, I told them they had the wrong number. It went on for so long, I threatened to sic Walter Jacobson on them to investigate why they didn't keep better track of their students' records. Never received another call after that. 😆

Watching 10pm news every night with grandma, wbbm channel 2 news Chicago with longtime weather man John Coughlin, and anchors Bill Curtis and Walter Jacobsen brings back fuzzy memories. We lived our life according to Coughlin's weather predictions which were the most accurate compared to channel 5,7 and 9. Good times, gone forever.

And for those who didn't know, the voiceover announcer in the opening of the newscast is Ron Rolland. He later became the longtime voiceover for WLS ABC 7 in 1992 until 2007 or 08? (Correct me if I'm wrong)
