I love seeing nerd culture accurately represented in the news and mainstream media. As a comic collector a lot of news coverage I have seen tends to be calling us sweaty nerds who live in our moms basements while a newscaster who doesn't know anything about the topics rambles forever. This segment was perfect because the news casters seemed to have not known too much about the topic so they let the fans and owners explain it to the viewers without attempting to shame or criticize them. well done 👏

@zeroblade9800 I showed some kits to my boss, and he called them Transformers. When you think about it, it's understandable. Gundam was actually originally a failed anime ratings wise in 1979 to 1980 when it first came out, but it was the Gunpla model kits that resurged the anime's popularity. That's why it literally took five whole years for a sequel show to be made (Z Gundam, which came out in 1985) but by then Gundam has blow up mainly because of the model kits and toys

Because the 47 episode is so boring. People rather watch movie length.

@@gdam0079 definitely not true because many anime back then were 40+ episodes. Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendizer, Getter Robo, all popular shows back then...and past 50 episodes each Same with Raideen, Galaxy Express 999, Space Battleship Yamato, Yatterman, Gatchaman, Devilman etc. Hell even live action shows. Kamen Rider was two whole seasons, with its follow ups all being over 50 episodes. Not to mention Ultraman as well Children were used to super robots style not real robots stye, so the more adult theme presentation didn't resonate with them as much

@@gdam0079 a lot of series that Sunrise banked on didn't get to make it to their full episode count. SPT Layzner is one of the more tragic cases where it was a good series but the sponsorship literally went up in flames. It was originally slated for the 49 episode standard, paced as such but when Sanyo heating lamps caused a massive problem and they cut the funding, the show couldn't continue so they capped it at 38 in a hurry. At least the reception to the show afterwards gave Sunrise the opportunity to finish it properly with a three part OVA partial retelling with the real conclusion.
