Another example of how Taiwan has benefited from a closer tie between US and Taiwan. Ever since first Taiwanese player debut in MLB in 2000, there have been 17 Taiwanese players in MLB. Also, thousands of ex-MLB/MiLB players and coaches have joined Taiwanese pro league. They did a great job making it possible for local Taiwanese players get access to the sport science and advanced training approach in MLB. Hope the best for both countries in this tournament and friendship forever.

I'm not sure if that's a direct benefit, but baseball culture has been prominent in Taiwan. They still hold the record for most Little League World Series wins in history.

事實上台灣小孩從小被嚴格管教,長大後他們容易放縱,造成成人棒球一直比少棒還要糟糕的原因之一。

Not going to argue this is indeed an example of the close tie between Taiwan and the U.S.A., but it --- absolutely --- didn't start in the 2000s when prominent Taiwan players like Wang Chien-Ming started joining MLB. The seeds were planted more than a generation before that in the late 1960s when Taiwanese teams started participating the Little League World Series and winning record numbers of championships across the system. Nobody should be surprised about Taiwan winning an adult-level championship like this one. Following the success at the Little League system, Taiwan knocked on the door of a championship/gold medal win a number of times, but failed to succeed until now. But late is always better than never. Thx to the young players on this team for fulfilling the dream of countless kids growing up in the 60s and 70s in Taiwan like myself by winning this historical championship. Congratulations.
