WC Video - 25 October 2014 - Maturing Behavior

The International Wolf Center advances the survival of wolf populations by teaching about wolves, their relationship to wildlands and the human role in their future. We are starting to see some signs of Luna and Boltz maturing. This video features less of the juvenile wrestling which is commonly observed when Luna and Boltz are active and more of the calmer adult like behavior where wolves can rest next to each other without being ambushed.

I especially like the wolves with their winter coats ..they look magnificient ..huge and powerful ..the curiosity of Grizzer make me smile .always so cute :)

Is there any reason you dont have pups? Are the wolves fixed?

We do not breed wolves here, the wolves represent two different subspecies which would not normally interact in the wild. We also chose to not reproduce more captive wolves, when we add life to the exhibit, we acquire pups from another USDA facility. We are planning for pups in 2016.

Is there something wrong with Grizzer's eye?

Grizzer has nerve damage that affects his right eye. His 3rd eyelid blinks, but he has no upper eye lid movement.
