Any CAM3 lovers out there? Majority of the footage is from a railfanning session at Vidyavihar with Sundar Krishamurthy. Most trains shown here are WCAM3-hauled but those headed to LTT have a WCG2 in charge (except Kushinagar). Here is a list of trains showcased here:

I was born in the year 2002 so i have missed these legendary locomotives of ir i havent seen wcg2 and wcam3 in old livery thank you sir for sharing these amazing video with us by the way i am also a railfan from valsad

Please don't tell yellow livery. It's a bit insulting for WCAM2P/3. Tell rather Butter colored livery to WCAM2P/3. My Parent's never say Yellow to a WCAM2P/3 locomotive's original livery. They always preffer mentioning WCAM2P/3 locomotive's original livery as Butter-Colour. Since then, I always feel it's better to address the Original Livery/Colour of a WCAM2P/3 as Butter-coloured instead of Yellow. So please remember to address the colour of WCAM2P/3's original livery as Butter-Colour. It feels some special on the locomotive.

It would have been really better if Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi also similarly had matching WCAM2P's.

Cream/Blue Wcam 3 with Pune Shatabdi, Tata WAM 4 lookalike WGG2 with any Cream-Brown liveried Express train, Maroon/Rust liveried WCG2 with any maroon liveried Express train and Blue-Yellow-Blue WCAM3 with any SF like Karnavati but having Blue-White-Blue coaches would have been an excellent treat in our eyes.

Old Maroon colour coaches childhood memories of travelling in these coaches. At that time 3ac coaches were called as AS1, AS2 etc instead of B1,B2.

The WCG may have retired, but the WCAMs still rule this particular corridor, Nishant. Like, even now when the WAP-7s are coming, the WCAMs are still preferred for regular service, even for LHB trains.

BTW!! the back to back vedio of Howra-Kurla Express and Pune Shatabdi is really very awesome. Had it been on the Western Railway near Mumbai Central, it would have been Lokshakti and ADI Shatabdi crossing each other's back to back in place of Kurla Express and Pune Shatabdi respectively. Sometimes the combination of Kurla Express crossing Pune Shatabdi looks just like as if Lokshakti and ADI Shatabdi during 90's and early 2000's crossing each others. Only the difference would have been that; the WCG2 and WCAM3 of Kurla Exp and Pune Shatabdi respectively, would have been replaced with the Red-Cream WCAM1 and WCAM2P (original Butter coloured livery) for Lokshakti and ADI Shatabdi respectively. Watching the Pune Shatabdi along with it's matching liveried WCAM3 at the same time; along with crossing with the Maroon coloured (coaches) Howra-Kurla Express; being hauled by a WCG2, I just really loved this combination like anything; in this vedio. But I am really not so happy that between 2000-2004, 90% of the non super fast maroon colored mail/express trains got the Shatabdi liveried WCAM3 on Central railway, whereas; on the other hand, in Western railway, the much deserved Superfast Train Karnavati (as it also had Shatabdi liveried coaches); which infact had a WCAM2P loco link from 1997-1998 and from 2005 onwards, often messed up with it's deserved WCAM2P loco link and ended up getting WCAM1 frequently between 1999 and 2004. This is really not acceptable. I think Karnavati deserved the Shatabdi liveried WCAM3 or WCAM2P in same livery as that of Shatabdi liveried WCAM3, and the Red-Cream WCAM1 loco should have been allotted to the maroon coloured mail/express trains on the Central Railways all during that time; early 2000's, as later after 2005, WCAM1 (after getting Blue coloured), infact started travelling on Karjat-Pune sections of CR.

@@ManiVijay I would love to have a time machine and go back to the 90's and early to mid 2000's and do certain neccessary improvements and changes from my full heart :- 1) Making all WCAM2P in Shatabdi livery WCAM3 style and making sure that not only ADI Shatabdi, but Karnavati get's constantly the Shatabdi liveried WCAM2P loco link like WCAM3 even between 1999-2004; without a single missing of WCAM2P loco link. Also, I will make sure, Karnavati never ever mess up with it's Karnavati Livery and totally 100% maintain uniformity like Jnaneshwari maintained; atleast when it had Rajdhani type coaches. 2) I would make sure that all mail/Express trains of Maroon coaches are always hauled by the Maroon coloured (with a yellow stripe sometimes) WAM 4 loco only along with the WDM of the same colour; according to electrified and unelectrified sections. Also, the Maroon Coaches are totally uniform with no Cream-Brown livery. 3) I would make sure that, all mail/Express trains of Cream-Brown coaches are always hauled by the Cream-Brown WAM 4 loco and the Red-Cream WDM loco; according to electrified and unelectrified sections. Also, the Cream-Brown Coaches are totally uniform with no Maroon livery. 4) I would like to make Karnavati as fully AC train along with having Shatabdi livery, just like Jnaneshwari being a fully AC train along with having Rajdhani livery. 5) I will make sure that locos like WCAM2P/3, WAP1 and WAP5/7 only haul Superfast trains like Jnaneshwari (along with Tamil Nadu and Swaraaj), Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Karnavati (along with Taj and Deccan Queen); according to the AC or AC-DC traction, along with the matching Livery; in terms of the locomotive colour; matching to the trains livery. 6) I will categorize Jnaneshwari, Tamil Nadu and Swaraaj trains under one category; as alternative to Rajdhani and I will categorize Karnavati, Taj and Deccan-Queen trains under one category; as alternative to Shatabdi. 7) I will make sure on WR, all trains having maroon coaches are hauled by the Red-Blue liveried WCAM1; (during 2004, WCAM1 were painted in Red-Blue livery for a short period) on electrified section and the normal maroon WDM with sometimes a blue shed on it in unelectrified sections, along with the trains having maroon coaches uniformity. 8) I will make sure on WR, all trains having Cream-Brown coaches are only regularly hauled by the Red-Cream WCAM1 on electrified sections and the Orange-Cream WDM in the unelectrified sections, along with maintaining the uniformity among the Cream-Brown coaches. 9) I will make sure like Anand-Khambhat and Anand-Vadtal passengers, every places get some passenger trains; being hauled by a WDS-4/6 shunter; if the route is unelectrified and the coaches are 5-6. 10) I will make Tamil Nadu and Swaraaj in Jnaneshwari and Rajdhani livery along with matching WAP1, as well as, I will make Deccan-Queen and Taj in Karnavati and Shatabdi livery along with matching WCAM2P/3 or WAP1 according to the AC/DC/AC-DC traction and also ensure that the loco links are constantly regular day to day, along with zero messing up on the trains unique rakes/coaches/liveries. 11) Along with Jnaneshwari, I will make Tamil Nadu and Swaraj as well full AC train along with Rajdhani type coaches. Along with Karnavati, I will also make Taj and Deccan-Queen as well full AC train along with Shatabdi type coaches. Also ensure these trains each and every day, without a miss get their matching WAP1/5/7 Or WCAM2P/3 as their regular loco-link according to the AC/DC/AC-DC traction, and these trains are only hauled in electrified sections, and these trains never ever mess up with their unique liveries and coaches. 12) I will strictly ensure that all Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains do maintain total 100% uniformity in terms of their coaches as well as Generator Vans on a daily basis, along with matching liveried locos; WCAM2P/3 or WAP1/5/7; on a regular day to day basis; without missing their loco-links ever; as allotted, according to the available AC/DC traction on their routes, and these trains are only hauled strictly in Electrified sections only, being Superfast trains.

Sometimes I feel there should be three categories of Diesel and Electrics. Diesel:- WDS4/ZDM/NDM, All WDM'S and Dual cabbed WDP's. Electric:- WCMs, All WAM's and WAP1/5/7. All Passenger trains with less coaches should only be hauled by WCM's in Electrified section and WDS-4 in unelectrified section. All regular mail/Express trains must only be hauled by WDM'S and WAM'S; regularly at equal ease, depending upon electrified and unelectrified sections. All High-Speed superfast trains like Rajdhani/Jnaneshwari and Shatabdi/Karnavati (By making Jnaneshwari and Karnavati as alternative and competing Superfast trains; parallel and equivalent to Rajdhani's and Shatabdi's respectively) must be only and regularly; without a single miss in their loco-links, must be daily hauled by their matching WAP1/5/7; in terms of the liveries of the coaches/rakes matching with the the livery of their respective alloted locos in electrified sections, and must be only and regularly; without a single miss in their loco-links, must be daily hauled by their matching WDP (strictly Dual Cabbed only); in terms of the liveries of the coaches/rakes matching with the the livery of their respective alloted locos in unelectrified sections. Also, no mismatch or messing up of those trains unique liveries, by a total 100% maintainance of those trains uniformity in terms of all of their coaches/rakes, including the Generator Van also very much; especially.

Tata/Bhilai WAM 4 can be the perfect replacement for WCG2's for mail/express trains in CR and the Blue-Cream WCAM3 on CR for Superfast trains; as shown in this vedio can be nicely replaced by WAP5/7 (if LHB trains) and GZB WAP1 (for Non-LHB Superfast Trains) after the AC conversion on CR.

Ajmer Bangalore Express was the first train I got to travel being hauled by this Shatabdi liveried WCAM 3 during 2001. I think because of Pune Shatabdi this Shatabdi liveried WCAM3 was used for maintainance and so it was operated by using it for trains operating between Pune and Ahmedabad. Otherwise Ajmer Bangalore express looks better with a WCG2 loco only.

I still remember watching the PA Shatabdi racing past Vidyavihar with a Shatabdi-like liveried WCAM3 in the 90's, this video made me nostalgic. I was just 2-3 years old back then.

I remember watching Pune Shatabdi with matching liveried Wcam 3 loco, passing Daadar; during 2001 and also an express Train ; maybe devgiri express or Howrah Kurla Express with a nice WCG 2 locomotive standing at Thane for bypassing our train Udayan express, while we were coming to Daadar by Udayan Express.

It was the time when transition was going on from Maroon coaches to the Blue ones, At the same time livery of WCAM3 was getting changed from Shatabdi livery to Blue/Yellow... That sound of DC motors were too damn good ... And that last video of WCAM1 with Karnavati was icing on the cake, This colorful combo was a treat to watch !!!

Wcam 3 locos started changing colours after 2001; 2002 beginning. WCG 2 were awesome looking in mail/express trains like Konark Express and Hyderabad Mumbai Express.

But Wcam 3 Changing colour from Shatabdi livery to Blue/yellow was not nice. Ahimsa express was the first train I saw during 2001 being hauled by Blue/yellow Wcam 3. I think the WCG2 should have been in Maroon livery like WAM4; for matching the Maroon liveried coaches of the mail/express trains and the Tata WAM 4 lookalike WCG2 for cream-Brown livered coaches of mail/express trains in CR. The Blue/Yellow WCAM3 had been perfect for hauling the Karnavati SF in WR during early 1990s when Karnavati was introduced with Blue-White-Blue liveried coaches. Blue/Yellow WCAM3 could have been the matching loco. I also think the IR should have preserved Shatabdi liveried WAP1 for hauling the ICF shatabdis untill all of them got converted to LHB's.

Woww....Late 90s was a transition time in CR with WCAM3s coming. Vacuum brake coaches going and Air brakes coaches been introduced in large numbers. Bidding farewell to WCMs. There was also huge improvement in suburban section speed of express trains with WCAM3 having better pick up.

After opening of pune expressway demand of that train get down a bit. Therefore they merge these coaches to Deccan Queen.

This is one of those videos showcasing one single locomotive mostly which I could watch anytime with no boredom at all .... I wish WCAM3s had that beautiful DQ livery even if they made it white/blue instead of cream/blue

I, too, wish they could repaint the existing WCAM2/3s in the DQ livery. Last time, I was shocked to see DQ pulled by a WCAM2 in unmatched maroon livery.

Exactly ... A dedicated locomotive for Deccan Queen like WCAM with such a beautiful livery is very well deserved .... WCAMs are very well known for their beautiful liveries they had back in the days much like how alcos are known for it

I very badly wish some Wcam 2/2p locomotives in WR had Cream Blue livery for BCT-ADI Shatabdi and Karnavati in order to match the livery of coaches of Shatabdi and Karnavati during late 90s and 2000s. That time, in BCT-ADI line, mainly Shatabdi and Karnavati where only the trains which initially most of the time given Wcam 2/2p, so I wish very badly those Wcam 2/2p were Cream Blue liveried for matching the livery with the coaches of these mentioned SF trains of WR. But not only no Blue Cream livery in Wcam 2/2p, also Wcam 2/2p link was never maintained for any particular train and was provided to any train weather SF or express between 2001-2005.

Not quite sure. I think they were in the process of repainting them to the standard CR day livery - white-blue-red stripes.

Wasn't Samarsata express the one with the Cleaner ICF Rajdhani liveried coaches? I remember it because I've made countless journeys on that train between Nagpur and Mumbai. And somehow I can't find pictures of the ICF Raj livery Super Deluxe online. It's like it was wiped out from history. :(

Thanks a lot! Samarsata never showed up even though I had picked that day mostly for that train. It was definitely disappointing not to see the Raj-liveried ICF rake. I did capture it before but at night.

In this Vedio, immediately after Gitanjali Express and just before Tapovan Express, one more train is seen; hauled by WCG2. Which is that train ?? I am not talking about the Howra-Kurla Express; seen immediately after Pune Shatabdi. There is one more train; hauled by WCG2; after Gitanjali Superfast, and before Tapovan Express, in this Vedio. Which train is it ?

In order to just maintain the regular locomotives of CR trains like Pune Shatabdi and Deccan Queen, those locos where being used for every Pune bound trains like Ahimsa Exp and Ajmer Bangalore express during 2000-2003 time.

So, Gitanjali was the 1st Non-Rajdhani but Superfast train, which was hauled by the combination of WCAM2P/3 (Mumbai-Igatpuri) and WAP1/4 (Howra-Igatpuri). Am I guessing right ? I wish Ahmedabd Howra Express and Howra Mumbai Mail where the first train during the same time, which got SRC WAP1 loco; immediately after getting their coaches coloured to Blue from Maroon. Till those trains where in maroon coaches, they were hauled by a SRC WAM4. Believe me Or not, I was a regular traveller by Ahmedabad Howra Express and it's a fact that, till 2000, the coaches of Ahmedabad-Howra Express were Maroon and it's Electric loco was SRC WAM 4 (howra-Bhusawal) and just a year later from 2001, the coaches of Ahmedabad-Howra Express became Blue along with it's Electric loco getting changed to SRC WAP1 at the same time, though upgrading that train to Superfast from express happened much much later (around 2004) and full Electrification (Bhusawal-Surat line was not Electrified till 2002) of that train upto Ahmedabad from Bhusawal onwards happened a year later; from 2002 onwards. Howra Mumbai mail I saw around the same time; it's coaches being Maroon till 2000 along with being hauled by a typical SRC WAM4, but, immediately a year later; from 2001, the coaches of Howra Mumbai mail became Blue, the locomotive became Rajdhani liveried SRC WAP1 along with the train getting upograded to Superfast category from mail/Express category; around the same time. As because, I always saw Howra Mumbai Mail; while travelling by Ahmedabad Howra Express around the same time and saw Mumbai Mail also getting upgraded in the same time and same ways like Ahmedabad Howra Express. Anyways, was Gitanjali the 1st Non-Rajdhani but Superfast train, which was hauled by the combination of WCAM2P/3 (Mumbai-Igatpuri) and WAP1/4 (Howra-Igatpuri) during 2000 ?

Already 90 % of electrification of Mumbai and Chennai has completed.Now journey time has reduced which affective from July onwards . After 100 % is electrified kindly do journey in ltt- mas superfast(Dadar superfast shifted to ltt) . And final share your experiences about single line mumbai Chennai route (which you have already done) and experience double line

I was so excited to learn about the terrific speeds of 12163/64, 11041/42, 11027/28 by 3-6 hours and converting them to superfast. Also, 12163/64 will become a 24 coacher. That is real good news for Mumbai-Chennai travelers. I definitely want to travel again but am actually waiting for a limited halt AC superfast train between these two cities taking 20 hours or less. I am sure it will happen someday 😀😀

Sometimes I feel there should be three categories of Diesel and Electrics. Diesel:- WDS4/ZDM/NDM, All WDM'S and Dual cabbed WDP's. Electric:- WCMs, All WAM's and WAP1/5/7. All Passenger trains with less coaches should only be hauled by WCM's in Electrified section and WDS-4 in unelectrified section. All regular mail/Express trains must only be hauled by WDM'S and WAM'S; regularly at equal ease, depending upon electrified and unelectrified sections. All High-Speed superfast trains like Rajdhani/Jnaneshwari and Shatabdi/Karnavati (By making Jnaneshwari and Karnavati as alternative and competing Superfast trains; parallel and equivalent to Rajdhani's and Shatabdi's respectively) must be only and regularly; without a single miss in their loco-links, must be daily hauled by their matching WAP1/5/7; in terms of the liveries of the coaches/rakes matching with the the livery of their respective alloted locos in electrified sections, and must be only and regularly; without a single miss in their loco-links, must be daily hauled by their matching WDP (strictly Dual Cabbed only); in terms of the liveries of the coaches/rakes matching with the the livery of their respective alloted locos in unelectrified sections. Also, no mismatch or messing up of those trains unique liveries, by a total 100% maintainance of those trains uniformity in terms of all of their coaches/rakes, including the Generator Van also very much; especially.

@@ManiVijay Along with WCM's, even WCAM1 have currently become history now. I think WCAM2p/3 ; after this WCAM1, will soon become extinct. WAM-4 should have been preserved for all the mail/express trains; covering distance between cities like Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Howra-Ranchi, Delhi-Gwalior/Lucknow, Howra-Tatanagar, Mumbai-Daund/Manmad, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Chennai-Banglore/Coimbatore, Trivandrum-Ernakulam, Vijaywada-Hyderabad/VSKP, Bhubaneshwar-Howra/VSKP, Howra-Patna, Patna-Ranchi, Secunderabad-Banglore, Howra-Gaya, Nizamuddin-Kota and all sectors Or sections; covering 6-7 hours. WAP5/7'S must be totally and strictly allotted for only LHB superfasts trains like Rajdhani/Jnaneshwari and Shatabdi/Karnavati. Only Rajdhani/Shatabdi and Jnaneshwari/Karnavati type LHB superfasts must only get WAP5/7's. All other long distanced as well as Non-LHB Superfast trains can be allotted with the WAP1/4 like Gitanjali Express, Paschim Express, Golden Temple Mail, Hussain Saagar Express, Faluknuma Express, Navjivan Express, Punjab Mail, Howra-Amritsar Mail, Corromondal Express, Howra Mumbai-Mail, Upgraded Ahmedabad-Howra Express and for varoius unlimited many more long distanced upgraded Non-LHB Superfast trains.

I have seen such one/two coached track recording car and 5/6 camping coaching trains on various Sub-Urban train lines and sections. I am from Kolkata. I have often seen such 1/2 coached track recording cars and 5/6 camping coaching trains in Kolkata's Sealdah south division of Sub-Urban train line as well; like Sealdah-Sonarpur section of Kolkata. I think track recording cars and camping coach trains are operated in every places having Sub-Urban train lines.
