What a wonderful and natural interview. Mahalo Kawaikapu for allowing Colina to be her eloquent self and for sharing the beauty of our hula heritage. She has so much to share and I am glad the the Halau continues to thrive. I had the privilege of being trained by Auntie Maiki and Coline many years ago. I was shown an incredible art form, but mostly I learned from these beloved people that hula is prayer and the gifts, physical, mental and emotional that we may possess are only on loan to us in this lifetime. And that is what attracted me to Halau Hula o Maiki. Aloha, Kula Abiva

Auntie Ma'iki was my first kumu hula and after her passing, Ms. Coline became my next mentor of the Hawaiian culture. I moved away from the islands to care for a family member but I carried all that knowledge with me and I am so grateful to Halau Hula O Ma'iki. I still dance hula, make flower and feather lei, and keep my hula sisters close to my heart. I learned more about love and life from my kumu that any other life experiences during my 73 years on this earth. Mahalo nui loa for making me a better person through hula.
