No, no one "deserves" anything. The justice system should not be about giving people the punishment they "deserve". The only legitimate purpose of incarceration is to keep society (as well as the inmates) safe. But incarceration by itself is not a solution to crime. It never discourages the type of crime in this video - crime done for money by poor and desperate people. You saw that this man was terrified to go to jail, but he did the crime anyway. Notice that rich and middle class people never commit armed robberies, it's only ever poor people.
