At this point I respect Arquette in terms of pro wrestling. All these years later, as basically an old man (I'm his age) he came back in to get himself into shape, train, learn the craft & actually get in the ring and do it. He had to do all of that because he simply wanted to....and it probably did have something to do w/ trying to "redeem" the WCW championship stuff, because he didn't HAVE to do any of this. He didn't. He must really love wrestling....

Also, during this time, while he was working in WCW, David Arquette quietly donated all of his earnings to the families of Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, and Darren 'Droz' Drozdoff. Truly a class act, looking out for "the boys" without patting himself on the back for doing so.

The Main Event Mafia makes way more sense now. It was a rehash of the Millionaires Club, though they made the more intelligent choice of being the Heels this time around. The New Blood could have made the copycat thing part of their gimmick. They're newer and better than each of the old guard they're copying/replacing. What was terrible about the powerbomb? A lot of people think Kidman vs Hogan could never have worked, but I think it could have if done right. The way Kidman vs Hogan could have worked, setting aside everything else going on and just focusing on the two of them, is making Kidman an underdog. He wins with a school boy or similar against an arrogant, dismissive Hogan in the first match. Survives a horrific beating in a second match, which hopefully makes the crowd feel sorry for him. He loses, but has a Dreamer "thank you sir, may I have another" moment. Again, hopefully this gets everyone rooting for him. A third match is set up after Hogan is repeatedly questioned on why it took so long to beat Kidman in the second match. Kidman wins the third match.

This is probably one of the few times that wouldn't be humorously true. This era of WCW was far worse than WWE's current product. Everything about the Russo era of WCW just felt wrong and stupid - salaciousness just for the sake of being salacious, poor match quality in nearly every instance, unnecessary swerves, storylines abruptly dropped out of nowhere, constant title changes that devalued ALL of the championships, and seemingly an intent to insult both the wrestlers and the fans. It's like everything that made the WWF's Attittude Era stand out, but done with a sense of desperation, a lack of care for anything, and done after the Attittude Era approach was becoming old hat.

@@glennwelsh9784 This era of WCW is far worse than WWE's current product? Idk dude both have done a phenomenal job of alienating its core fan base WCW's ratings at this time were actually quite good probably better than WWE's 750k turning the channel during the last hour of Raw. Both era's are marred by poor TV and creative. Both era's insulted the intelligence of the fans.

WCW in its dying years was an absolute mess, and it showed. Every time I see these events covered, I'm always reminded of why I stopped watching WCW at the time. It was clear they were losing the war, and there was no way in hell they were ever gonna win it ever. It was truly sad to watch. So I could not disagree more that WCW in its dying days was better than the current WWE for as bad as that is.
@danielsarn3823

@@SaviorGabriel Yeah in all honesty idk really, both were/are alienating their core fan base with nonsense. WWE have no heart and soul these days and WCW then although it gave lower/mid card talent a chance to succeed it was still a clusterfuck of bullshit. Still its curious to note that WCW's ratings were pretty good back then compared to WWE's major issues with ratings these days and record numbers changing the channel.

Arquette doesn't deserve the shit he gets to this very day, it's literally absolutely everyone else around him that does. He was the only dude in the entire situation that knew enough to know it should have never been done ever. I'm pretty sure part of his money also went to Droz, as this wasn't very long after Droz's horrible accident. Probably the thing that bothers me most of all is that DDP lost the title to him in 1) a tag match in which 2) they were freaking partners and he's just totally cool with it. WCW. Also, thank you for a wonderful Legends of the Hidden Temple reference.
