While in NJP HWH Shatapdi going from Malda to Kolkata I detected WDP 4B take shatapdi to speed of 132 kmph it waas mind blowing Edit:I figured it out it was not wdp 4b but WDP 4 normal one just with the round aerodynamic nose like the wdp 4 used in talgo the serial number was WDP 4 SILIGURI 20063 or maybe the WDP 4 20074

Indian Railways had to shift towards EMD or other locomotive companies, because ALCO as a company closed down in 1969. If we see the history of ALCO locomotives, the only locomotives actually made and delivered by ALCO was the WDM 2 loco. Remaining all locos were rebuilt out of the WDM 2 design by DLW Varanasi. This was possible because all of the technology was transferred over to DLW when they signed the deal for WDM 2. Thus, despite the closing down of ALCO, all the technical patents were in the hands of DLW, and they, in collaboration with RDSO, could try out different experiments. This is what worries about the deals of the new locomotives. Did the Indian Govt take a full fledged technology transfer for the WAG 12, WDG 4G, and WDG 6G? Because if GE or Alstom went bankrupt or got taken over by other companies, the new owner might cancel the deal/maintenance and pull out of India, leaving Indian Railways stranded.
