As an architect, I envision this as a building with amphitheater in the bowl/seat. As an engineer I think on how we could build it. Beautiful creation craftily expressed in my favorite medium. Hugely impressed. I designed and built table, floor, and hanging lamps similar to your construct, but nowhere near as complex..

Incredible piece of art. Congratulations and very well done.
😮😮😮😮 that is truly amazing. How the heck can you build a chair and only secure it with toothpicks and glue? How do you do that? Wow, I love it. It’s gorgeous. The stuff that rattles around in your brain is fascinating when it comes to designing wood anyway I don’t know what else is in your brain but this wood pieces amazing I can say wow😊😊😊

Amazing design, artistry and craftsmanship. Is your application of heat gun water soaked wood the same as steaming the strips prior to use. You have produced a museum quality artwork while educating your son with what is possible without relying on technology. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother

Beautiful chair, designed by the best computer, the one between your ears. As a wood carver though you run into the same problem as I do, way to labour intensive to be profitable in our age of mass production. Never the less what a wonderful skill to pass on to your sons.

Hi 👋, WD , Well done, what a elegant structure, and of course and a great sent you treatment, to find it still works, it might have been worth making yourself a steam box, That way, you could’ve put stuff in it then if you need to put it back in, you could do, I made a spiral staircase Handrail many years ago, Making it up in lamination sections, As you probably know, it is built up in the helix, To form it shape I had some metal angle brackets made up that I clamped to the outer edge of the staircase and then use it as a form to create a handrail, Very time consuming, Especially as I was working by myself, Then just before I started to glue up, and then realised I didn’t have enough G clips, nearly £500 later, with G clamps, I started your book on gluing it up, I always find you are willing to go the extra mile to create something well done, Especially as you said, it is designed all out on paper by hand, System is good if you know what you’re doing that is a learning curve all of its own , stay safe. Look forward to your next project., France

Congratulations on a successful project. It’s always fun having a crazy idea and then making it work, maybe even better than you were originally hoping. Regarding your comment about designing with paper and pencil instead using a computer program, since you designs typically feature so few straight lines and oftentimes freeform curves, I suspect that most of the more inexpensive CAD programs would not likely for you even if you wanted to go the CAD route.

I think the chair would look better if the spacing between the vertical slats was even all the way up. This would be very difficult since it would require tapering each slat individually. It would probably be best to draw it up in cad and have a cnc cut out the slats.

That's a pedantry that is both unnecessary and wrong. Language is about communication. If you have communicated your idea you have used language correctly. Secondly, someone who makes multiple copies of their design for sale or dissemination has manufactured copies of their design. If you have designed a chair and manufactured many copies of it you have manufactured chairs. By this logic designs maybe manufactured. Your pedantry is unnecessary and wrong.
