"I'm sitting on the Cafe Xenio steps." - Big Dipper. Cafe Xenio was this amazing courtyard cafe in Santa Cruz, CA behind the old Bookshop Santa Cruz. It was destroyed in the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. It is were college students got "coffees of shame" with whoever they slept with the night before. It was a magic space and moment. In the quake, a girl we all loved was killed next door while roasting coffee on that fateful day. A brick wall fell on her. This song is sentimental about a very real scene that once existed.

@@johnhutchins825I get that. I'm a huge Tom Petty fan, but it would not have been the same without the greatest wingman ever. And Mike's solo work is top notch. The dynamic in Cracker reminds me of that

He wrote Mr. Wrong, one of my favs off the first record. I went to see the band not long ago and ran into Johnny near the merch table after the show. He was kind enough to sign a copy of the lyrics I had printed out. For such a legend dude is super nice and approachable.

This has been one of my top 3 Favorite Bands since I was 13 years old. The older I get, the more I understand what they were talking about and it makes me appreciate it even more. I miss the 90’s and the great music. Every decade is really a feeling that can only be understood if you were there for it. Luckily I was in my teens in the 90’s so I have a lot to be thankful for.
