of all the guys in Kyuss and all the folks involved in the 'Desert Rock' scene in general, Brant Bjork is the most consistent. The laid back yet hard rockin' groove of the music perfectly exemplifies the concept of 'desert rock'. I really like Dave Grohl and all he has done to give exposure to underground metal (Probot) and I really dig when he plays drums for any Josh Homme venture (QOTSA and TCV) But if I want to listen to some great rock, I'll skip the Foo Fighters and listen to Brant anytime.

von junzt Come on, forget about QOTSA and The Foo Fighters when it deals with Desert Rock or Stoner... it’s as if you were picking up Bullet for My Valentine to talk about Death Metal mate 🤦🏼♂️ ! Stoner = Fu Manchu. Fuzz = Stoner = Fu Manchu.

Yeah I get that. The 1997 album The colour and the shape is a pretty bad ass album of the Foo Fighters though. But yeah, nothing beats that heavier than heavy desert sound.

Don't get me wrong, Kyuss are a great great band but people who think Josh sold out when this is the kinda of stuff those that didn't "sell out" put out are jokers. Honestly, he (Brant) ain't a good guitarist, he ain't a great singer and he ain't a great lyricist. If selling out means realising you potential then fuck, Josh sold out, big time! Lol. Love Brand but this is a bit shit, sorry.

In my old Nissan truck I have a cd player. In that player is Brants first album Jalamanta which I bought sometime around 1999. I think it was released by Mans Ruin. I'm glad I held onto it, its still a great listen and not much music from the 90's has held up that well. I listen to "Too many chief's" a lot and try to understand the story behind it.
