Could they possibly have wasted more money and real estate and endless years of construction on a blink-and-its-over ride, that many find uncomfortable to ride on? They might as well have just put up a cheapo Barnstormer twin ride for an equal thrill. It's an insult to be asked to pay to go on it.

I've only been on it once, and half the ride was painful on my ribs until I figured out I could lean up. I'd do standby but there's no way I'd pay $22 to ride it.

My sister had an aneurism at MK. The cast took care of and quickly transported her to the ER for surgery. She is now home and healthy. As Tom said, she was very fortunate it happened at Disney.

@@Thomas-kp8mowhat doctors on scene? LOL. This is about being found and time to treatment. WDW EMS has some of the quickest response times in the country, and being in such a crowded place means being discovered vs being home alone etc. There aren’t “doctors on scene”.

Fantastic news about the little boy. This is what we have come to love about Disney. One of my clients lived because she called down to the front desk, mentioned she didn't feel good. Something tugged at the CM causing her to check on this guest. She was found in cardiac arrest and help was summoned immediately. Thank goodness this happened at a Disney resort where trained and kind cast members are in abundance.

Agreed. Personally, my 3 year old has ridden it multiple times and loves it. The bigger thing is that the cast members reacted quickly to save the boy. His age has nothing to do with him having an unknown genetic condition.

Wow! We were at EPCOT that day with a 2pm boarding group at Cosmic Rewind. As we arrived, we found the attraction had just closed a few minutes prior. It was the last day of our trip, and we were extremely tired & hoped that we could make it long enough in the park for Cosmic Rewind to reopen. We rode a few other things & then saw it was open again. We ran over, had an amazing time getting in almost right after it had reopened, then after hustled over to our dinner reservation at Garden Grill before being completely drained. It's awful to hear what the cause of that closing was - but also relieved to hear how everyone came together to make sure that boy was OK.

Reflections of Earth was by far my favorite night time show, especially before Happily Ever After! I loved everything about that show! It's still sad that it's gone now. I know Disney does little tributes to the show (they did one during D23 even), I would love to see them bring back the show in some way with what they use now, even if it's just for one night! Can't wait to see everything about the show tomorrow! Super excited!!!

As long as people continue to go and pay the silly prices - they will continue to increase. Hotel prices are out of control. If you didn't know, you can get gorgeous VRBO properties just off property for 1/10 the price per bedroom at Disney hotels. They have carved out pretty much all the good places to view fireworks so you have to pay a fee, rides all cost extra beyond your ticket to get in - AND - you might not even be able to get on if you are not lucky enough to get on the list before it fills up. All in all, it's just not fun anymore.

People need to stop paying for LL. I know we created the monster, but we have to accept that we may not be able to do everything we want on a trip. Disney inflates the wait times too, and the queues while entertaining, add to the wait times. If we starve the monster enough, Disney will kill it. Or Universal does away with theirs/implements a free fp system and then Disney will be shamed into doing away with it. Anyway, let’s stop rewarding the terrible c-suite decisions because they’re upset that Disney+ isn’t making money any more for their investors

To be fair not all cast members are useful in medical situations, I'll save the details for another time, but one moment when I watched an old lady take a face plant, and was lying in a pool of her blood, a cast member asked the very important question of "should I call someone?" SMH... yes please, get EMT here pronto. The lady as far as I know lived, she wasn't anywhere close to the danger level this kid was in, and her vacation was probably ruined, but yeah... that CM did not have very good training when it came to that.

To be fair, the Red Cross training always starts with "gain consent". The steps and wording changes slightly in the training every so many years, but there is always that step. I just had my biannual renewal training last week (for scouts), and now the instruction is to also speak out loud "the person is unresponsive, consent is implied'.

We were not expecting them to jump in and render medical aid, but a simple "I'm going to call for help" would have been the best knee jerk thing to do.

Not sure if the parents knew or not of his condition but the ride clearly states that you shouldn’t ride with pre existing conditions. This goes along with those parents that stuff things into their kids shoes to make them taller. Parents are going to end up getting their children hurt just because they’re spending so much on their vacation and want to get their moneys worth. It’s getting out of hand

I think in the post from the parent after the event, it was implied they didn't know of the child's heart condition beforehand. They said something along the lines of "my son lived because when his (now we know) genetic heart conditions..." Obviously it's important to exercise caution but it's possible they could've ridden the attraction before and their child faired well.

Wow the story of the kid is pretty amazing and definitely the cast members are the heart of the parks. Although, not everybody would give them respect they will still help when needed. Anyways, Disney is basically like probably four different roller coasters trying to get them all high, but they can’t all be high until they actually know what to do with the information.

The story about the boy reminded me when I was working at an electronics store. One day, everyone was required to learn how to use the AED. Turned out a man had walked in the door of one of our other locations and dropped dead shortly after. The AED did not save him, though.

Honest question about the CRW health issue: If I heard right, the parent realized pretty quickly on the ride that their son had passed out. Can the ride not be stopped? Or was it better for the ride to finish so they were brought to the unload area? I'm very glad they're okay, I was just curious why the ride would be allowed to finish in a medical emergency?

Well, they may not be able to really see since you’re traveling so fast, also it’s way faster to reach guests at the unload area than somewhere out on the track.

The fact the kid is 5 wasn’t the problem, they had an undiagnosed heart condition. I’ve been riding big coasters since I was 4 and have been completely fine.
