Luffy has a zoan fruit and eats meat (ayo) making him a carnivorous zoan. He has been doing partial transformations. Like how Marco’s hybrid is just wings and legs. The drawback to his transformations is how full his stomach is. Like how Popeyes is strong but gets better with spinach. In toons the main character always gasses out and either needs a kiss, food, or a power up specific to the episode to push thru in the new mode. In luffys example there’s Afro luffy, wax luffy, shadow luffy, water luffy, etc. Luffy used gear 5 against the crow Mungen, but before that he said his belly always still full. So he did not need to gas out. The Glutton Bunny was giant sized, and luffy Lear way more than zoro and sanji. Zoro drinks so maybe he drank the blood like the one eyed demon he is, but Luffy ate majority of it. Against Blackbeard Luffy will have a fight like Gojo vs Sukuna. All of the powers and aspects of the fighting system in this world will be on full display and every twist and turn from the outsiders/survivors point of view bearing witness will feel like when whitebeard first tilted the seas. BUT FOR EVERY MOVE. Garp and Akoji could never match this potential.

Kaido stated that haki will reign supreme over anything else including the best devil fruits out there. Garp and Koby hammered that point in against the Blackbeard Pirates. Blackbeard's crew is all about devil fruits for a specific reason. They are set up to fail because they overestimate these powers. Also, Luffy explicitly says that he's saving Shanks for last when he's talking to Law in Punk Hazard. Oda has done an amazing job making Blackbeard the antithesis to Luffy. One crew built on trust and the other built on mistrust. One is liberating people from oppression and the other is directly oppressing. If they fight each other directly, the StrawHats will win. Especially at this point in the story, and who knows, it might be against Blackbeard that Luffy ends up needing his fleet.
