We accidently fixed the most BROKEN glitch in Elden Ring

This video started off as a collaberative effort with myself and Viley, as we started investigating the bugged backstab animation, but this project evolved into something much more.
I really cant overstate how much help Viley has been with this collab. They put in just as much effort as I had, stylinging the thumbnail, adding their incredible edits to the video, and spending hours upon hours testing and experimenting with different interactions. This isn't PvP related and it's quite minor but could you look into Crucible Knight's messed up thrust hitbox? It's got a similar thing to one of Nameless King's moves where its weapon model and its hitbox move around weirdly resulting in a janky hitbox. Also why you go flying when the fully grown starbeast on Volcano Manor is charging at you and you hit each other at the same time.

It takes more skill to play good fps games than souls games. I've played competitive shooters and competitive fighting games at a tournament level. There is more to know and far more decisions to make in those games than souls PvP. I love souls PvP, and I'd like to think I play at a high level, but at the end of the day it's simple compared to real competitive games even COD. There are very few inputs and very few decisions to make. The gap between a top player and a decent player is much less noticeable. Also, I wouldn't be proud of "filtering" pvers. I barely have fun against those kinds of people. I'd rather have a challenge.

@@psyk1k986 even Mordhau and Halo melee duels are more difficult than souls pvp. The fact you can have target lock on is a huge loss to skill expression and skill gap. But definitely FPS are harder, have to aim, take cover, flank, use grenades, secure or defend objective, work with teammates, verticality, actual movement tech, etc.

Note. The Crimsonwhirl glitch was technically plaguing the game since release but it wasn't common until 1.10 when they messed up Last Rites. I'm trying to recall the order of events. 1.09 glitched out sacred order, 1.09.1 "fixed" sacred order, 1.10 fixed saced order but bugged out last rites. and at some point the Jellyfish shield also got bugged.

This is one of those situations where the fix is so simple it's overlooked. Or more accurately, when you write a code it can be hard to bug fix simply because you thought about it, looked at it, and (more often than not) overengineered to the point you just subconsciously rule it out as even a possibility of error. For me I found that happened most often in syntax and strings, but I know a couple of people that do that with values bc they are either really complex to work out or braindead easy with almost no in between (... ish) Basically I don't blame them for not noticing the fix would be that simple, they've been busy with other projects and issues since launch, but if a fix is handed on a silver platter and it really is as easy as changing 2 numbers and it STILL doesn't get fixed I think it reflects poorly on the company. Though, I don't know Fromsoft or Bandai Namco's testing protocols and it could still take a while to make sure that change doesn't cause other, possibly worse issues that you just didn't notice (like how they missed their problems caused by those values)

that really shouldn't ban you. you must have done something else wrong. notable examples: modifying your runes amount or level directly, equipping cut content stuff while online, modifying your stats wrongly... I know someone who purposely kept a weapon with an "illegal" AoW since launch pretty much, and they haven't been banned yet.

I only see this on invaders, i keep thinking that they are simple hackers, but why even is this glitch still a thing? Same as the drillspear exploit, still a thing. There are groups all other the internet that make it their goal to abuse exploits in elden ring, pretty disappointed in FROM for treating online like an abandoned courtyard. FWIW you can get the same bugged BS animation when you fail a BS due to angle check while using any hammer buffed with flat AR grease

Yea, its a CE function. Look in the bottom of scripts and look for damage managment; thats the hitboxes

It's in the way the tear works: it converts elemental damage into healing. The glitch only turns that into a permanent buff, you can use the effect the intended way for 15 seconds without any glitching involved.

i like the crimsonwhorl glitch, it forces a fair fight. no two shot comet cringe, no bush camper bolt of gransax, no endure unedurable frenzy spam. sure bleed and other status work, but thats fine, atleast you have you get close to kill me. besides, everyone that is using magic spam always has a bleed weapon anyways. im just making fights fair, by limiting the amount of cringe spam to only half.

What a shit take, it just sounds like you had your ass beaten to the oblivion and now instead of trying to learn from your mistake and “adapt, overcome, survive” just as you said, you better off hiding behind broken OP glitch because I guess this rule doesn’t apply to you and that’s the only way you can win. Also there are a lot of builds who use elemental damage and not only mages and I don’t know where you got the idea that every mages carry bleed weapons with them but if you’re talking about moonveil, on an optimised mage build on a lvl 125 - 137 I can guarantee you that the bleed is so low that they’re going to heal the amount of damage you received quicker than ever bleed you out to death. Besides how do you expect someone that’s for example going full melee magic or holy build outplay you “fairly” in your categories? Because for me that’s just begging me to chainsaw my opponent. Oh yeah also on a side not before I hear something like “b-but chainsaw oneshots so it’s unfair!!1!” the difference between chainsaw and crimsonwhorl is that unlike crimsonwhorl any build can realistically stun someone out of chainsaw and outplay their attempt to do so. You can achieve it with any stronger ranged options like for example storm blade, death spear, rain of arrows, rancor pot or freezing pot, the list goes on and every well crafted build has at least one ranged option available, where as crimsonwhorl shuts down your build completely if you don’t have very specific build or tools available at the moment. Besides even if you manage to get some to low hp they can just use endure + holy ground to completely ignore the damage you just dealt so yeah good luck with your fair fight there kiddo.
