One problem will be is finding the perfect spot to open it up. Some spots you can't open it because of trees in the way. A toy hauler is better because the space your are in most likely has extra space length wise more than with wise.
@andrewfidel2220Ай бұрын
@@barbaralaux9842 it depends, we've been in many state park campgrounds where there are trees immediately behind the drive and so a back deck wouldn't work but the area next to the drive is often open for stair and awning space. Definitely need a roll down door to secure the outside kitchen area or you will be missing items in the morning and protect from the elements! Stay with 2 axles (beefed up), use dual hubs (4 tires on each side similar to Spacecraft) Patio have legs for long term stabilization and support, not just the cables. The brown flooring is a much warmer environment with the interior accents. The area dedicated for the children's area is brilliant! I vote for the televator in the bedroom. I'm totally impressed with the design/layout of this huge rig! It is truly a full-time family friendly rig. Suggestions: Have the gate on the patio directly across from the sliding doors. This way the access is direct and traffic on and off the patio won't interfere with the sitting area that logically would be across from the "kitchen"/TV. The brown flooring grounds the light upper decor by bringing the brown accent elements together instead of appearing to float. So, I'm on team brown. Skip the TV in your bedroom, you probably won't use it often enough to make it worth the eyesore on the wall or the space it steals from the drawers as a televator. That room is so peaceful and calm, a place of quiet & rest. You're going to have that wonderful L couch to cozy up and watch shows so you don't need one in your retreat. Not a fan of the dishwasher taking away space for a decent sized single bowl sink. It can be a drawer one, which would make it easier for both kids to load it! I love your sense of design!

On the rear toilet make sure you put a note that no "products" go down it, it will plug and it is not pleasant to fix. Have some small bags for the products to go in to put in the garbage. I used the walgreens prescription bags and put a note on the wall and the toilet lid. They will use the bag and throw it away but do not like to just throw it away. The powered bunk bed has been in class A motorhomes for some time, it will stop working if you run it up and down daily. My 14 year old (over 10 years ago) told me light browns for the floor and vanilla and lighter for anything higher when we built our new house. (Except wood cabinets and trim) She was right she did a great job picking counter tops and everything. The winda thing went right past me at first but I was not sure what you meant until I realized deck with an e.
@LessJunkMoreJourney26 күн бұрын
I will make sure to put a note about that with the toilet!
@charlieodom910725 күн бұрын
This is incorrect information. Anything that is supposed to go in the toilet CAN go into a macerator toilet. They will grind up anything. The same macerators used in these toilets are used in fishboxes on boats, and they grind up fish scales, bones, guts, etc. I have a macerator toilet in my cargo trailer, and have Installed many marine toilets. They do not clog if installed properly, even with a 1" outlet instead of the recommended 1.5". So, flush away, because that macerator will grind it up, no worries. If it doesn't, then it is installed incorrectly.

Things to consider coming from a former otr trucker. How much weight are you wanting to add in the cargo holds and other areas of the RV? Do you really want to add the the overall weight by adding a 3rd axle? Do you want to have to replace 6 tires instead of 4? Two axles is easier to back than three as well. Depending on how sharp you have to jack your RV into spots depends on how much resistance your tires create. The more they drag and the more wear. Why not consider going to a heavier rated set of axles instead of the triple axles? My wife and I are buying a Riverstone Legacy, I just have to coax my wife into agreeing to buy a toy hauler as we are buying a toy. So the three axles will be needed. I will try and get them to install the dishwasher and sink that you guys had added.
@LessJunkMoreJourney28 күн бұрын
This is definitely a three axle just for the weight alone... otherwise we would have nearly zero CCC and we see that all too often in RVs

Ceiling mounted projector in the bedroom that can easily be mounted/dismounted on patio railing for outdoor movie night. Also removes the headaches/restrictions when needing to replace the TV on a televator system. I prefer beefed up dual axles for ease and cost (better turning especially backing, fewer tires and hubs, many toll roads in TX based on number of axles, etc.). Brown flooring is much warmer and feeling of home.... popularity of grays is becoming almost clinical feeling.

Overall I love the rig. I haven’t read all the comments so maybe this has been answered, but our biggest problem in our Solitude 377 is that the 3300 pound (going from memory) payload is just not enough. I’d love to see at least a 4k payload and if you need three axles to make that happen it wouldn’t bother me in the least. We’ve been full time for over five years and have never used the bedroom TV. If there was an option to buy without that set I’d take it. Similarly, we prefer sleeping in a cold bedroom so we would not want the bedroom fireplace. If it was possible to buy the rig with that space filled instead with more drawers we’d be in heaven. As I said, all in all I love what you’ve done. Nice work!

You guys can actually have the best of both worlds of both a televator TV and a Projector screen, with the benefit of having a real TV that's able to store away in a small, compact space like a Projector screen but without the negatives such as the viewing ability in daylight and having to mount different pieces of equipment everywhere and making sure everything aligns right. They now have "roll-up" TVs that work exactly as a normal TV but with the added bonus of being able to roll itself up like a Projector screen. You can cut out a small, shallow and narrow cubby for it to fit in when it's put away in the top back of your dresser (about the size to fit an umbrella rolled up) and still be able to keep all of your storage space in the dresser without having to sacrifice walking space in your bedroom.😊

Regarding the deck, I suggest having the stairs on the side, as you more than likely won't find a campground with enough room for the front stairs. A soundbar is all one needs-Bose preferable,y! We have never used the ceiling speakers and hardly ever use the outside ones. If we need music outside, we use a portable speaker as it really comes down to the campground layout and where the we sit. Go three axles!!! Windows windows windows!!!! That’s why I can’t break away from our current fifth wheel. No one has windows like what we have, so I’m totally with Marissa on this one. The more/bigger windows the better! Love the deck! Love the gray floors, but I don’t love the brown accents. Just my preference. The brown floors look best with your brown accents. Anytime I see fifth wheels with the couch backed up to the sink, I cringe. All I can think about is my teenagers doing dishes and someone sitting on the couch getting drenched in water…plus the water ruining the furniture. I love how you guys turned the sink sideways and put the dishwasher closer to where the L part of the sofa will be. That should prevent any issues there. Projector in the bedroom for sure!!! I’ve been telling Brent for years that we could use the roll down shade as the screen for a projector and get rid of our TV that slides out sideways from the closet. But he hasn’t made that change for me yet. 😂 I’ll be anxious to hear how the bathtub does for you, Marissa. We have one, but I can barely put any hot water in it to fill it up…so it’s useless. Need a tankless hot water heater. And I love that from what I saw there appears to be ZERO carpet. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Brent would want the upgraded MorRyde suspension from the get go and then it might not matter if you go with two or three axels. Only other thing I’d love to see would be in the front cap where the closet is. Have the middle section be an additional dresser with drawers with another window above it. Then on one side put the washer/dryer and the other side put an area for hanging clothes. That gets you one more window, Marissa! 😊 Nice rig, guys! 🎉

Would be nice to have opposing slide out in bonus room to open up space

It would have, but that's part of the deck area

Brown flooring looks much nicer. I’m on board with making it a 3 axle RV and making its GVWR 20k lbs like a toy hauler. Many families go to a toy hauler for that extra payload capacity. I really hope GD considers this entire floor plan for a production model. We have a family of 5 and this checks more boxes for us than any other floor plan on the market.
@LessJunkMoreJourneyАй бұрын
We agree - a 3-axle toy hauler GVWR. I'm so glad to hear this checks off so many boxes!

I love the idea of the lifted bed in the loft, and to make it “disappear” during the day time, get a curtain rod the length of that bed to hang along the wall above the bed/slide and use valances to cover the bed/mattress part. It frames the slide/window nicely and the valances will hide the bed when it’s in the lifted position

Great tip! We'll definitely consider that

That RV is very nice! I'm not a big fan of fifth wheels, but I could see myself taking a serious look at this one. I don't like the decks on toy haulers, but the way this deck spills out from the living room is brilliant! And all that additional storage space is fantastic. Very well done guys!

Thank you so much! We love the way the deck blends in with the living area too!

Ok, the outside deck is awesome!! (Need an awning over the deck!!!)That would be a huge gathering place for us as well! Couple of thoughts: Love the idea of the televator in the bedroom...keep the window big! Bathtub...you need a way to switch the drain so that the tub water can go directly out to the sewer hose...you'll fill your bathroom gray tank quickly with a couple of tubs of water! TV area...looks like you've got room for a small cabinet something or other under the tv? be great for dvd storage etc. I absolutely love what you're planning with this rig! Betting this comes in right around 20K weight wise and because of that, 3 axels would be needed. Since you're already going through all of this, do the right thing and get upgraded suspension, like shocks or the Lippert Airbags and put on disk brakes.
@LessJunkMoreJourney26 күн бұрын
Wow! Good guess - we'll be 18k dry and 22k loaded

FINALLY, a residential floorplan with a side patio!!!! We currently have a Momentum 399TH with side patio and my wife says she can't do without it. MORRyde IS with 3 axles and disc brakes is a must. Riverstone does it with all of their Legacy models. Also, a Gen Y pinbox is a must.
@robd6709Ай бұрын
Some additional items worth mentioning: Brinkley and Allliance have electric dump valves now, and Grand Design should, too. Slam latches on the genny bay and propane doors. Units from other manufacturers that cost half as much have slam latches all the way around. An optional Truma Aqua Go water heater. The Truma is MUCH better than the Furrion, Suburban, or Gerard.

Yes. 8k axles with disc brakes & high-end tires!! 🥳🥳
@jasonb9913Ай бұрын
1) Soundbar with a hidden or ceiling subwoofer would be my preference. 2 ) Brown flooring is much better than the gray. 3) Hopefully the rear bath goes into single set of tanks or at least has single sewer outlet for multiple tanks. 4) Is full 50A inverter prep going to be there? 5) Support for inline multi-filter filtration that handles both city and on-board water? 6) The deck is awesome, the "winda" above is a nice feature. 7) It's already expensive so consider going to independent suspension instead of a third axle. Better turning and tire wear than a triple.

Brown floor is lovely. Soundbar is a must!
@LessJunkMoreJourneyАй бұрын
Thank you for the feedback - do you think GD should install it and come with the camper or do you think leaving space for an after market option is better?

Go for the triple axles. Riverstone has them with 5K CCC.

I love everything about it. I hope Grand design starts offering this model for others to buy. I need to sleep too many kids for this model but maybe they can use some of those features somewhere else. Oh and the brown floors works better. Good job guys 😊🤗
@LessJunkMoreJourneyАй бұрын
I hope so too! How many do you need to sleep? What would your dream layout look like?
@emilyhart3076Ай бұрын
Same! I have 5 children. Could the “L” couch sleep 3-4 teenagers? Keeping the bedroom in back for smaller children/babies? Can the booth workspace in bedroom fold down into another bed? We hate lofts as the kids outgrow them. But love the separate bedroom/bathroom space
@jpmsaveАй бұрын
My feed back is big family and we have 5th wheel. This great keep 98% what you have done. The main bed room maybe option for no fire place and a desk ? Make shur the back table can be use is a bed to. Keep the dark floors are nice keep them. Try keep the speakers. Any countertop space you can add please do. The Deck is a rockstar !. Did you add disk brakes ? And high end tires. I like two axles only for turning radius and tire scrub but this is going to be a dule rear wheel tow vehicle only situation so really a third axles not a problem. Maybe I'll see you in Florida ? 🎉

Go with the brown floor if you are keeping the white and grey walls and fixtures. The contrast is better. Unless you like to look of being at a doctors office. I also ended up putting warm gel yellow filters in all my travel trailer lights because it was just to white and bright.

Great video 📹 ❤ They need to put an actual "suround sound" system like boss for the living room area.

Would you rather it come with the RV or to have hook ups/wiring for you to add your own after?

@LessJunkMoreJourney it should come from factory, as well as an option to "upgrade" or chang it. That would be awesome!
