I bought a pair of these in 2008 and I'm still using it (15+ years!). Only at my PC, while working. But disregarding its cheap-feeling build (I admit), it is in fact durable. I only had to replace the cushions, twice. I am not an audiophile, the sound is okay as to my amateur taste. But what I absolutely love is how comfy and extremely lightweight they feel on my head -- I didn't have this comfort with anything else I have tried before. Even the pads, the mentioned cons are actually what makes the headphones good for me -- it's not isolating me from the environment (may not work for you in noisy environments, but I don't have this problem), it's not creating the feeling of vacuum (which makes me super tired after prolonged periods of wearing headphones), while preserving decent good-enough sound quality. So I kinda disagree with the sentiment that this is a completely terrible product :)

Oh I certainly wouldn't say that it is a completely failed product, only that it doesn't live up to the expectations of some of their other budget friendly headphones when it comes to sound performance. All that being said, it's wonderful that you enjoy them as much as you do! It makes me very happy to see other perspectives on headphones like this. Thank you!

I've owned these for over 10 years. The pads that mine came with are a breathable fabric. I took off that mesh thing on the top to drop them down a little bit. Never missed it.

Hell yeah! Love to hear about simple Koss mods. Nice.

Had mine for five years love the weight and goes over my glasses very well I kind of wish the wires would be a little stronger but so far had no problems with them. To me great bass and as I am in my mid 70s love the highs. Don't like the mesh strap on my bald head makes me ich. Will try other things. For sounding so good love the price. Mine show no distortion at all.

Glad you enjoy them! If you want to try something different, you might really enjoy the KHP30i if you don't mind on-ear headphones. Still very affordable and with a better comfort strap, in my opinion.

Ive lived with these for 3 years and for domestic playing they are excellent and dont get uncomfotable after time. They also fit comfotably over my glasses. . Given they are open back the need for a perfect ear fit is irrelvent. The soundstage as you say is good. My sennhiser and sony phones are now relgated to other uses.

I won't lie, the thought has crossed my mind to try them, but I don't know if I'm that masochistic.

I've used these for over 15 years simply because I like the low end. I've tried other cheap brands and it didn't match up to what I was wanting. However, I have probably replaced these at least 5 times. They are very cheaply made so it's easy to break. The worst part is the cable. It's very fragile and can be torn easy. And my cat loves to chew the cable. And once they are ripped, there's no repairing. I honestly wouldn't recommend them unless you just want something cheap.

Cats seem to have some sort of laser guided homing device specifically aimed towards cheap cables.

If you're really into lowed and want to try something in a similar price bracket but with much better build quality, check out the Monoprice Modern Retro. Super fun.

lol now compare them to others at their price range.. they're first audiophile headphones for us poor folks

Just compare them to other Koss in the same price bracket. KSC75 sounds SO much better for the same price.

thing is, as long as you're staying in the "open back foam headphones" you're not going to do terrible. as soon as you leave that zone it's all garbage.

Yup. Koss certainly has yet to prove otherwise.

What a bummer. Can't win 'em all! Those pads were a terrible joke, tbh.

These are e waste. This pair is more representative of Koss products than Porta Pro. I remember the Koss Pro DJ200 being ok as an over ear but in general don’t waste your time.
